About time there was some more competition on this route. Granted, this won't be great for US' bottom line.

That explains why my US fare on my weekly commute drop by $100 per roundtrip in May.

Thank goodness. I'll be taking AA from now on then for my weekly commute.
i wish AA would do PHL-LAX and SFO

Well, IIRC, AA makes it the third airline to fly CLT-LGA nonstop. US (obviously), DL (which started JFK service and will start LGA service) and now AA. I'll stick with US, since I like the ability to fly to LGA in F, as opposed to an all Y RJ.

Uh...it's not like US is bad or AA is significantly better

I know. Especially when we're talking about American Eagle.

Well, I flew US almost exclusively for 7 years, finally making CP. Then one day I was treated like dirt by a dishonest and mean ticket agent in CLT who wanted me to pay $700 to book a new ticket rather than allowing me to fly standby to a co-terminal. When I stood up for myself, she turned even nastier.
All I asked for from US beacause of the abuse I got that day was an apology. I didn't even get phone calls or emails returned. If that's how US treats its CPs, then US isn't ever getting another cent from me. Anything is better than that treatment- even AA on an RJ.
I have tickets already booked on US through June. Is it possible to cancel all of those tickets and use the value to buy tickets in somebody else's name? Or when I cancel a ticket I bought, does the value have to be applied to a ticket only in my name? I'd like to just give the value of those tickets to somebody else so that I can start doing a challenge on AA.

Which airline do you think this is.... Southwest?? ;)
Sorry to say, but tix are nontransferable, so even if you cancel them, the value (after the change fee) needs to be applied for tix issued in the same name.
(Southwest, BTW, allows you to do what you proposed... In fact, you can combine multiple funds from multipled pax and apply them toward one purchase for someone else. Don't get me wrong... I'm no big fan of Southwest, but this is one reason why they offer a great value for your travel $$).

What's funny about all of this is AA's CLT-LGA route was probably just to kick US for starting DCA-DFW. Nothing more than trashing their yield a bit on a traditionally BlowFare (tm) dominated route.
