Hi gang. I was seated next to a guy in First today who left his boarding pass on the center armrest, where I happened to glance at it. Under his name, where mine says CHAIRMAN*S PREF, his said SIGNATURE. What does that mean?!

That would make sense, since if you're both CP and hold a Signature Card - it only lists your elite status on the BP.

The boarding pass does indeed specify that the customer has the Signature VISA card. It is also indicated on the manifest for the F cabin, which indicates your status as well as the initials SG if you also have the signature card.

There are rumors of a super-CP status flag. As I recall it's "VIP". I'm quite sure that I don't have that flag on my account...

I believe it is awarded on revenue not miles/segments, as such not given to 6 legged pax.

:D
What possible perks could come with the new status...they're already cutting down on the size of the CP Desk.....

What does that give them? Perhaps they can stand outside the door of an abandoned USAirways Club without being told to move, or maybe get ahead of the other first class pasengers trying to get on ahead of everyone else in "Zones 1 and 2", now that there no longer appears to be advance boarding. I've got it...they get first choice of the potato chips at 6 AM on breakfast flights. Keep your eyes peeled for these folks. They may have introduced a third type of seat to assign them, beyond First and Coach. Rumor is those will be called "Clean", but I'm told there won't be very many....

I have only seen the VIP on the manifest one time. It was on a flight out of Europe and the young lady was seated in Row 1. I couldn't stand the suspense and asked her about it, and she said that it indicated she was one of the top CP's (top 100) with miles. She was a very nice person, I enjoyed having a chance to talk with her. I can't remember how often she flew, but it was a lot! I guess if all you do are trips across the pond the VIP status would come pretty quickly.
Does that "Signature" designation appear on BPs obtained via online check-in? I don't recall seeing it on mine last weekend.
I am a US Signature card holder, but my BP's dont say that... how can I get my card linked to my account so it will say it in the future?

I would assume the VIP status is similar in perks to a few other carriers.... as in special services people to meet them at hubs, phone numbers that are direct lines and even better than the CP desk, access to lounges, special gifts from US, etc.
Have a family friend who used to fly CVG-LGW in paid First/Biz Elite on Delta about five times a month. Among the perks was after a certain point, he just got some number of free FF tickets and they didn't even deduct the miles.

Signature only shows on the BP if that is your only status. Since you are CP that will show along with *G. On the manifest you will be listed as US1/SG.
