If you have parked in the airport area... any good suggestions?I typically use Colonial. $7.50/day with coupon ($8.50 without). No complaints and (from my experience) they seem to run a lot more shuttles than some of their competitors. BobbyL262 Apr 11, 05, 6:47 pm Thanks Elron! That doesnt sound bad at all. elron938 Apr 11, 05, 6:53 pm Sorry, here's their coupon (http://www.longtermparking.com/COUPONS/cpcolonialphln.htm) EnvoyBoy Apr 11, 05, 6:54 pm I'm a regular and satisfied AMPCO customer at PHL. BobbyL262 Apr 11, 05, 6:55 pm Sorry, here's their coupon (http://www.longtermparking.com/COUPONS/cpcolonialphln.htm) THanks! elron938 Apr 11, 05, 7:07 pm I'm a regular and satisfied AMPCO customer at PHL.AMPCO has a coupon (http://www.longtermparking.com/COUPONS/cpampcophl.htm) as well. phlwookie Apr 11, 05, 7:51 pm I've used both AMPCO and Colonial at PHL, usually when on vacation. No complaints about either and I'd recommend them both. ALCARLOS Apr 11, 05, 9:07 pm Any good ideas on what to do when you find the lot(s) you normally use are not accepting any cars? EnvoyBoy Apr 11, 05, 9:21 pm Any good ideas on what to do when you find the lot(s) you normally use are not accepting any cars? I've never found AMPCO to be full. I did notice on a recent visit around spring break time for kids and families, however, that there were a lot of cars on an "auxilary lot" of sorts that was made up of a grassy field adjoining the parking area but still within the fence/gate. There were orange pylons pointing the way. Fortunately, I found a nice dry spot under the building overhang. wahooflyer Apr 11, 05, 11:48 pm Any good ideas on what to do when you find the lot(s) you normally use are not accepting any cars? Take SEPTA if it's convenient. There was a thread a while back that confirmed SEPTA stations allow multiple-day parking if you make advance arrangements. Perhaps one of our moderators can find it...Google doesn't turn up anything for me. olde hornet Apr 12, 05, 5:50 am I use AMPCO - I like them alot. ^ TTT103 Apr 12, 05, 6:50 am I use to park at the Ramada, but experienced full lots twice in December and January so started parking at either Colonial or SmartPark. Colonial is much more convenient and I have yet to have a problem. You may be able to save a dollar or two elsewhere, but not enough to get excited about. JA610 Apr 12, 05, 7:07 am I use Priority Parking they accept everyones coupons and take reservations. I have never had problem. robertlew Apr 12, 05, 7:52 am I have used Avistar several times. They valet park your car for you. When you arrive at PHL you call and they pick you up and have your car ready at the carport for you. It is warmed up in the winter or cooled in the summer. Coupons at avistarparking.com have been first day free, each additional only 8.95 BrianW Apr 12, 05, 11:07 am I occasionally also use Kinney. They are OK, but their shuttle vans are pretty decrepit. Last summer on an incredibly hot day I was taking the shuttle back to my car and they didn't have working AC in the van. The driver actually laughed at me when I asked him to turn on the AC. Regarding the actual airport long-term lots, I believe if the lots are full they will allow you to park in short-term for the long-term rate. I think you have to get a voucher from the long-term cashier. IBleedGreen Apr 12, 05, 2:38 pm I found AMPCO to be great, however a few weeks ago they were full, and I was forced to park at the airport lot. A word of caution, as of April 1, the airport raised their rates to $9/day. TTT103 Apr 13, 05, 7:06 am Regarding the actual airport long-term lots, I believe if the lots are full they will allow you to park in short-term for the long-term rate. I think you have to get a voucher from the long-term cashier. Over Easter when all of the lots were full, I was told at the Economy lot that they no longer provide the voucher to park in the L-T lot for the economy rate. JadedTraveler Aug 7, 05, 8:50 am I asked this in another thread, but no takers, I'll try here: Has anyone used the Pacifico Valet parking service that gets advertised locally quite a bit? If yes, how long have you waited from the 'I'm ready to get picked up' phone call to when they show up with your vehicle? mr_edward_p Aug 7, 05, 9:00 am I asked this in another thread, but no takers, I'll try here: Has anyone used the Pacifico Valet parking service that gets advertised locally quite a bit? If yes, how long have you waited from the 'I'm ready to get picked up' phone call to when they show up with your vehicle? I like Pacifico. They are pretty good getting in. The longest I ever had to wait was 25 minutes and that was Easter Sunday. Most of the time, its not very long at all. Frankly I enjoy a couple of minutes to enjoy a smoke anyway after landing. PHLesq Aug 7, 05, 9:28 pm I have used Ampco for years, but they have been very spotty as of late. My last 3 times I waited about 30 minutes for my car. When I complain about my wait, the driver's excuse is always that "2 other drivers called in sick." I believed him the first time, but after a while ... Also, while Ampco's web site offers a frequent parker program, when I recently asked the manager about it she said that they didn't offer it, and they "want to know who put it on their website." I've concluded that Ampco and other off-airport lots are cash cows for owners who just want to milk the current busy conditons at PHL while providing little service. Other than the indoor parking at Ampco -- which is great in the winter -- I wouldn't use them over any other lot. I've posted earlier about being an AMPCO customer but share PHLesq's most recent experiences. I welcome suggestions on an alternative service/location. elgringito Aug 8, 05, 9:21 am I've posted earlier about being an AMPCO customer but share PHLesq's most recent experiences. I welcome suggestions on an alternative service/location. My wife uses Winner and has not experienced a problem. With the AAA discount, valet service costs a little over $8 a day. They also offer a car wash and detailing service as well as you can have your car serviced. photog72 Aug 8, 05, 5:13 pm I use the Ramada Inn Park & Jet in Essington. Never had a problem. Rates are $7.95 ($6.95 with the coupon (http://www.longtermparking.com/COUPONS/cpramadaphl.htm)) per day. The shuttles run often and I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for pick up from the airport. They pick you up from your car and drop you off at your car. ^ JadedTraveler Aug 8, 05, 8:12 pm I used to like the Ramada lot, but two things there turn me off. They seem to have to pick up or drop off at the hotel, which adds several minutes to the trip. And, recently, the lot is nearly full, and so I've had to park in the unpaved, dirt section of the lot (the east side). All the other cars coming and going over the course of several days churn up a fine layer of dust, which settles and covers on my vehicle. So I'm always having to wash it after parking there. TopGun Aug 8, 05, 8:24 pm I've parked at Aampco a few times and had somewhat pleasant experiences. On one occasion I did have over a half hour wait. Worst part it was in the winter in the snow. I park at Ramada now but only because I get a coupon from work that gets me a $5.95 per day rate :D firstclass Aug 13, 05, 7:58 pm I've found Aampco to be pretty good; always courteous and try hard to get everyone quickly and out of the lot with a full van. I've had a few long waits on arrival at PHL; and one terrifying ride to PHL early one morning with a driver who must have been on drugs and drove thru the lot like it was a racetrack. I definitely like their indoor lot; and they give a AAA discount of 10% if you show your card (they copy it at the booth which adds to the exit time and annoys other drivers). JadedTraveler Aug 14, 05, 11:14 am I tried Pacifico Valet last week. They were OK, prices were very high, especially after tipping the driver each way. Also noted they no longer wash your car on the day of your return, one driver said they stopped doing this last fall because they couldn't keep their car wash in working order, and decided to just stop doing it. Got picked up less than 10 minutes after call. CMV Aug 14, 05, 4:27 pm I have used Avistar several times. They valet park your car for you. Can anyone post how long it took to get to PHL from the time you pulled into Avistar? Anyone else use them? Thanks! LPCJr Aug 16, 05, 12:03 am I've used Sunpark Scott Way a number of times. Service is pretty good, and they are very close to the terminal. It is normally about $13 a day, but if you pre-order in multiples of five days, you can get 5 days worth of parking for $40.09. PHLGovFlyer Aug 17, 05, 8:01 pm Parked at Ampco twice in the last two weeks and got to ride a brand new shuttle bus all four legs to/from PHL. A MAJOR improvement over the old busses which were frankly frightening. I saw a few of the old ones cruising the lot but the small sign on the ticket dispenser at the entrance gate stated that they had taken customer surveys and were acting to improve the busses based on the results. CMV Aug 21, 05, 9:08 am Can anyone post how long it took to get to PHL from the time you pulled into Avistar? Anyone else use them? Thanks! I used Avistar this past week and they were very good. When we pulled into the lot Tuesday a.m. they was a shuttle ready to depart that waited until we could grab our bags and get on. On the return -- Saturday a.m. -- they picked us up within 10 minutes of my phone call. Car was waiting and ready to go when we got there. Driver helped with bags both ways. For $8.25/day (with coupon), not a bad service at all. photog72 Aug 21, 05, 12:12 pm Park & Jet at the Ramada Inn in Essington raised their rates from $6.95/day to $7.95/day recently. :( I had a coupon that was still valid for the $5.95/day rate, and they honored it. Shuttle service is still pretty good. I had to wait by my car for a couple of minutes before they got me, and I caught the shuttle as it was picking up passengers at arrivals. I would have called from my cell phone (half the time, the phones in baggage claim don't work correctly), but they were already there. So, for about $7 to $8 per day, who else has a good parking service? dukeman Aug 21, 05, 12:44 pm I typically use SmartPark. They are located in Essington on the South side of the airport (convenient for me coming from DE). I believe they charge $7.95/day, but I have coupons for $4.95/day (old) and also $5.75/day and they honor both. Shuttle service is typically pretty good. And they give you Smarties candies when you leave. |
