OH MY GOD! I just flew SAN to PIT today on an A319. I had to sit in coach this trip. I was in absolute shock at the threadbare and frayed appearance of the coach seat headrest area. Does no one in US care that these looks horrible? I posted this on USAVIATION to find out how old the airbus fleet is. After 6-7 years, these seats should not look like this. Guess that's why WN & JB have an all leather seat plane.

I've never noticed anything like what you described on US's Airbus fleet.
The first class seats are usually dirtier than the coach seats, thanks to the pen marks. :)
The first airbuses arrived in late 1998. So, without attention, it is entirely possible that you saw a bird that's not been well tended to. sad, but true. Have you been in the front cabin of a 767-200? Those poor things haven't been touched since Envoy's introduction in 1997.

Some of the 767s have gone thru heavy maintenance and thus have refurbished/clean cabins which at least now make them worth the miles for an upgrade.
