Air New Zealand Air Points - Using my comp UG voucher - strategies?

I'm due to fly AKL-SIN on Thursday (11;30 dept) and just rang NZ today to find out that the flight is pretty full already in business. However, the lady said they were still selling a few seats and I should 'be optimistic'. I'm not. I'm only a lowly silver on NZ so last in the pecking order.

What do you reckon? Any point in going to the airport early? Of does it not really matter? (I'd prefer not to!!).

(I can't remember!) - can these UG vouchers be used as part of a *RWT on NZ flights?

Yes they can be used on NZ flights that are part of a RTW (I used mine a couple of weeks ago).

IIRC they can see how many have requested upgrades. If seats are still being sold only a couple of days out that is a good sign. Fingers crossed for you.

I would ask (nicely) if NZ can call you, even if on day of travel, if your upgrade clears. Assuming they can do this (they usually ring me ahead of time), then if they havent called at T-12 hours then I would go to the airport early for check in. If upgrade doesnt clear then, make sure they know you are in the lounge waiting on upgrade to clear (and not wandering the airport).
