I have been told by a friend in Moline that AWA may resume direct flights from PHX to Moline. Anyone know whether this is true. PHX is the most popular destination from the Quad cities in the winter.
I go to Moline on business several times a year and now have to fly to ORD and take UAL from ORD to Moline.

I doubt Moline is even a blip on the radar but...who knows!

I seriously doubt MLI is going to be serviced by HP. I don't think the market is there to dedicate a A319 for nonstop service to PHX. The only thing HP could do is put an RJ between ORD and MLI, but that won't happen as that's UA/AA country.
I would be pissed if HP dedicated a plane to this route instead of some more important ones.

Heck, give 'em an RJ or two. Couldn't hurt to try MLI again as long as it's an RJ.

Bring back Cedar Rapids, too!
I haven't heard that rumor yet! Sounds like something that would go to an RJ, tho.
The CID/MLI flights were always JAMMED full and non of us who were around then can understand why they did away with them.

"With new air service to Dallas-Fort Worth on its way and Phoenix service hopefully in the wings, the Quad-City International Airport now will need to take a hard look at its parking s parking situation.
At Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Rock Island County Metropolitan Airport Authority, aviation director Bruce Carter said the new American flight to Dallas and two carriers’ plans to bring bigger planes into the market are driving the need to address an anticipated parking shortage.
'Parking is a big issue,' he said. 'With us getting Dallas and the possibility of Phoenix for the future, we’re going to have to make decisions about getting more parking for our customers... It’s a good problem to have.'
.... In addition, he said the airport is working with 'a couple of airlines' to add direct service between Phoenix and the Quad-Cities."

I think Phoenix may be the in the top 5 destinations year round out of MLI. It wouldn't surprise me if it's #1 in winter because they are so many snowbirds that live close to the Quad City Airport.
When Airtran found out that Orlando was a top destination, they decided to offer non-stop service out of MLI--- it's only a matter of time before some carrier flies PHX-MLI or vice versa.
The only airlines that come to mind as "a couple of airlines" could be HP, WN, Frontier, ATA, or AirTran.
Years ago HP flew MLI-CID-PHX on certain days, MLI-PHX non-stop on certain days, and CID-PHX non-stop almost daily aboard either a 732 or 733.
