Qantas Frequent Flyer - GB Airways & Iberia Credit

Looking at purchasing a few tickets to Portugal, but was wondering what points I would be getting for the following flight:
Flight: Iberia flight 7600 operated by GB AIRWAYS FOR BRITISH AIRWAYS on a Airbus Industrie Jet
Had a look at the QFFF T&Cs page and it says you get Iberia credit for flights operated by Oneworld partners - what is the status of GB Airways in regards to this, as these flights operate only under BA/IB codes (there is no separate GB Airways flight number). On the BA forum, flights operated by GB Airways seem to count for status.

Can I expect a 1 mile/point earning ratio?

You will get 1 mile / point earning ratio

I think GB Airways is an affiliate that operates under the BA banner in such a way like Qantas Link (I think). From the Qantas FF website regarding to Airline Earning Table from the T&Cs (here is the link if you need it: http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/terms#jump23) all classes in Iberia in economy earn at a ratio of 1:1 while BA discount economy is at .25...it all depends on which carrier code you want to book under for this flight & also the difference in $$$ for IB/BA...plz correct me if I'm wrong

Thanks for the replies :)
I'm planning to book under an IB code because of the points factor, and it's actually slightly cheaper too (strangely, because the base BA fare is lower, but unavailable for my dates).

Just make sure the IB fare class you are booking actually earns QFF. Not all of them do.
Where as with GB/BA you will earn 25% even on the cheapest Y tix.

IB does have quite a few eligible booking classes though.

Hey! Just done quite a few sectors like the one you have described on both IB and BA (GB Airways).
Firstly, GB Airways is definitely treated as if it is BA. It is simply a franchise, so it works like a McDonalds (sorry to use that example!) where from the public's point of view they are to be treated as if they are one in the same. Being UK based I have taken many normal BA as well as GB Airways flights and have to say that on average, GB airways is much better than normal BA. Service just seems to be always friendlier - you don't get the BA scowl! Aircraft are pretty similar, although for some reason I have only caught 737 aircraft with GB airways thus far so I am guessing they have an all 737 fleet (feel free to correct me if I am wrong).
On the subject of points, as with normal BA, all the same rules apply - 0.25 on discount economy and 1 in full Y class. B, H and K classes only earn 0.25. Discount economy sectors get discount status credits on GB Airways as with BA (i.e. 10 on most routes) and full economy gets full economy status credits.
IB on the other hand is pretty easy. Even the cheapest airfares get 1 point per mile which can be quite good, especially if you get the BA flight using an IB code as you will get the full 1 point per mile treatment which is definitely worthwhile. Status credits work as with BA.
IB points can take about 3-6 days to credit unlike the BA which seems to credit like QF within 24 hours.
I have to say that with IB you will either receive fantastic service, or the service will be downright dreadful - much like the Spanish! There is not much in between unfortunately. They do however recognise QF OW Sapphire and Emeralds though so you have a good chance of getting an exit row or even an upgrade. Lounges in MAD are quite good although the distance across the airport for connecting between flights bound for LHR/LGW is huge when connecting to/from LIS so even with well over an hour, don't expect to be in the lounge for long (if at all!). BCN is much easier to connect partly as it has travellators (spelling?) which make it much faster to cover the long distances between gates. The BCN lounge however is pretty dismal so don't expect much. BCN airport however is quite good and there is heaps of good shopping so maybe better to enjoy that than go to the dismal lounge. One final point, IB is notorious for being late, so your one hour connection quickly evaporates to minutes - make sure you factor this in. Even with all the IB quirks, I still don't believe they are an airline to be avoided. In fact when they bring out their sleeper seat on all long haul aircraft (roll out started last month I believe), I would be more than happy to give it a go.
If your going to Portugal, PM me and I can suggest a few places to visit.
Personally, BCN is the city for me. In fact it is one of my favourite cities in Europe and I will definitely be visiting there for many years to come.

Hi QF Hammer,
GB airways did have a B737 fleet but have now replaced it with an A320/A321 fleet,

Thanks for the correction. Come to think about it, I have come in on a 320 in LGW, but certainly not a 321 (yet!).
I should also state that the staff at LGW overall (regardless of being normal BA or GB Airways) always seem much nicer. Why is LHR always such a struggle?
I wish BA would rethink their LGW strategy..... I think I am starting to get OT now!! ;)

Lest it go unmentioned, BA has discounted Club Europe on quite a few of its ex-LGW routes, examples include Bologna, Krakow, Toulouse. There was a thread on this over in the BA forum.
