Does anyone know if you can see the fireworks on July 4th from Westin Copley river view rooms? If not, can you from any SPG hotel in Boston? Son will be at Harvard, and we loved the Sheraton Commander. If we stayed at this location, where would be a good place to view fireworks? Thanks alot for info!

Two years ago my husband and I stayed at the Westin Copley Place during the 4th of July. The view of the fireworks was awsome! I was pregnant at the time and it was so great to be sitting comfortably in air conditioning with the fireworks immediatly outside our window. I can't remember what floor we were on but I called in advance and asked the concierge what their recommendation was and they were honest about how high of a floor was needed for a view... I then asked them to add the floor request to our reservation. I wouldn't hesistate to recommend the hotel especially for the Boston fireworks. Enjoy.

Good suggestion on the Westin. Having never been in BOS for the fireworks display, I cannot precisely know from where they are launched; however, the corner rooms at that hotel are ALWAYS Jr Suites and they afford views of the Charles river and the area overlooking the DT and Copley Sq itself.
I agree with the previous poster to call and ask for the front desk manager (I would talk to this person instead of the concierge) to confirm details about vantage points. As you can well imagine, for something like this, HEIGHT is your friend. Don't want to be on the ninth floor....... ;)

Many of the bridges over the Charles (Longfellow, Mass Ave.) or along the banks also provides a great view. If one isn't trying to get close to the Boston Pops on the Esplanade it generally isn't necessary to arrive too far in advance of the actual fireworks. Loudspeakers broadcast the concert along both banks of the Charles.

I would think the Sheraton Boston might be better than the Westin, especially since if you don't get a room facing the river you could always look from the Towers Lounge.

To help with selection determination, can someone confirm from where the firework display is launched? It seems to me that is the crucial piece of info here.......

The fireworks are launched from a barge in the Charles River...almost directly in line with the Westin (and Sheraton). I agree with the prior comments...except that I prefer the Sheraton Boston to the Westin hands-down. First of all, there's a MUCH better chance you'll get a room with a river view (which is exactly what you can ask when you check in). They also treat plats MUCH better than the Westin, and will bend over backward for them. The Westin has far fewer rooms facing the river, while the Sheraton has an entire side of the North Tower. Plus, Sheraton has a club-lounge for free food during your trip!!! Just my two-cents...

Thanks for info, but we are only Gold! I checked the rates, and Westin Copley is actually cheaper than Sheraton Boston for nights around July 4th!

The concert along the river is quite fun...as long as it's not blazing hot. I would encourage you to head outside for the concert and fireworks.

To answer the question about the location of the fireworks, they are fired from barges in the Charles River between the longfellow bridge and the mass ave bridge.
The westin should have an excellent view of the fireworks, as long as you are on a higher floor with a view of the river.

How does the Westin Waterfront compare to Sheraton Boston and/or Copley Place?
Seems to have the best deal for Cash and Points at the moment...

I've spent the 4th at the Westin Copley, Westin Boston Waterfront and Sheraton Boston. I could hardly see the fireworks from my top floor, center suite at the Westin Boston Waterfront. The Westin Copley is the better of the two Westin's for location and fireworks viewing.
