Just a bit annoyed/dissapointed that on our recent stay in Ottawa, we had to spend four nights without any type of Duvet/cover...

Unfortunately my wife is allergic...so of course, we had the pillows changed and then verified that the Duvet was filled with a down filling. When we asked if there was a fibre based filler...we were told that it was not available...I have since checked the website and apparently fibre fills are available for sale...so lucky us, we got more fleece blankets...at least the static shocks display was impressive during the night....

Also...

I wish one some these chains would increase their rooms service options for vegetarians! Ottawa has not changed their room service menu in six years...

Heating and cooling could not be controlled by the age-old heating and cooling system...

Ahhh...

Feel much better....

That being said, I did not complain...too busy looking after the baby while my wife was at a conference...

Then, I hope you don't expect things to be different your next stay. If we don't communicate to the hotels what [we think] they are doing wrong, we can't expect them to change. Or they will change in favor of those that do complain. And those changes may not conform to our interests/preferences.

Likewise, we need to reinforce them for what they do well. Otherwise, they may assume it's not appreciated and change.

While that is true...

I complain when something is seriously wrong (i.e. considerable mould during my stay at the Ottawa Marriott)...or when I went to the Algonquin in St. Andrew's.

Bed...I took their word

Food...I cannot expect to have vegetarians food everywhere...i.e. up until very
recently (maybe there is a toasted sandwich) there was only one thing for Vegetarians at McDonalds (the Frozen yogurt products--after confirming with a McDonald's exec, here in Canada Tallow is indeed added to the oil used to cook fries...veggie burgers are cooked on the same surface as meat)...anyway, the food at the Sheraton is OK...but we go out most of the time anyway....

With all due respect (I'm not trying to pick on you personally), I'm struggling here. It's not important enough to complain to hotel management that can effect a change, yet it's important enough to kvetch on this Forum? If doing so is cathartic, I can appreciate that -- I'm occasionally guilty at times, too. But, again, don't expect change.

And I'm not a vegetarian, so I take no strong stand here. But, Sheraton went to great lengths to offer low carb menus last year (at least in US, but in Canada as well, I believe -- e.g. Vancouver Wall Center). Would it not be realistic to show the same interest in vegetarian options? Again, if enough people don't raise the issue, nothing will change.
