The Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry began inspecting airlines nationwide Monday to check whether they had implemented safety checks in response to a series of problems involving Japan Airlines.

TOKYO — Transport minister Kazuo Kitagawa began safety inspections of rail and air transport systems on Monday in the wake of series of accidents and mishaps, including the fatal train derailment and crash in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, on April 25.
