Will AW comp Platinum members from AA? I have two trips booked on AW over the next 6 weeks. Doing a Silver Challenge would be easy (6 segments in 90 days, right?). But Silver does little as far as upgrades.

Platinum on AA probably equates to Gold on AW, which would give me a better chance of upgrading. I am fairly new to AW (been PL on on AA for 2 years). Have a whopping 1000 miles in my Flight Fund account. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

They did for me in 2002 when I came from DL. I was able to document over 650,000 on DL in 5 years though and I'm sure that didn't hurt.

I called Flight Fund directly and got the fax number of the correct person. It took less than 1 week to have status processed.

Welcome to the HP board, jaynyc! Unsure about AA comps, as I am mostly a UA and HP guy, myself, but I know with the silver challenge you have the option to qualify for any of the three levels as part of the "Trial Elite" program. If you have multiple runs coming up, you could easily pull platinum status from the trial.

IIRC, Platinum status from the Trial Elite challenge comes from ~20k miles or ~20 segments (Anybody else, please jump in and correct me if I am wrong) in the 90 day period. The plus is that your temporary silver status posts to your account within a few hours of having the agent at the Flight Fund desk sign you up to the program.

Also, you'll find that on HP, silvers do get upgrades a bit more frequantly then you'd expect, depending on routes, etc. I know a silver who was constantly upgrades on transcons and on short hauls about 75% of the time.

Please see the thread "Silver Challenge" in this forum for more information. I don't have the link handy, but I am sure it will assist you with your needs.

Once again, welcome to HP!

I was comped by them in 2003 as an AA Plat, I believe you'll have no problems with it as long as you send them a copy of your card and latest mileage statement, that was all I had to do.

i received a comp to gold last year based on mid-tier jmb (japan airlines) status and colleague did the same using his united status.

They did for me, but it looks like upgrades will soon be a thing of the past for HP.

Enjoy them while you can.

What do you mean that upgrades will soon be a thing of the past?
