Booked a last minute trip EWR-MIA on CO with a stop in MCO (no other flights available) on Thursday 3/24.
CO192 EWR-MCO, 757 (BF-equipped) F
-------------------------------------
You know the drill. Domestic flight with great international seating. Solid nap on this one.
CO9250 MCO-MIA, Beech 1900 Y
-------------------------------
Got to experience the transition from sitting in a BusinessFirst equipped 757 (55" legroom) to the back row of a Continental Connection Beechcraft 1900 at MCO.
The Beech gives new meaning to tight, and a blast to see the faces of people getting on and commenting. No bins, no FA, no live announcements, and the first officer handles the baggage. Those birds really blaze down the runway. Looking out the window, the JungleJet ERJs look like towering L1011s from the low vantage point.
But the best part of this...
My el cheapo hotel, the Crowne Plaza MIA.
On checkin, noticed a very stylish flight crew. You know, the kind that you picture from the early jet age, when it was still a luxury. The attendants were petting the unusually young flight deck crew (for a 767), and just plain bubbly. One was particularly "on a mission." Turns out they were from LAN Chile. While I didn't catch them that evening, they were a blast at the pool the next day. Terrible shame they had a 10PM flight.
Gonna have to switch to OneWorld after this. The sight of them walking in their sundresses to a concrete jungle pool surrounded with, well, not-so-sophisticated tourists, was priceless. Only topped by the transition to swimming mode. Honestly, a more pure, beautiful sight than anything I saw on South Beach. So vibrant, comfortable in their skin, and just damn friendly.
Looks like Aviacsa also uses this hotel. Anyone else know of any good crew hotels?
