Hi everyone. I need some help with Air New Zealand.

I am planning on taking NZ 20 (AKL-NAD) on August 18, then continuing on to LAX on the same flight on August 21. What I want to know is if it is possible to essentially go from NAD-LAX-LHR without staying over in LA? It seems like there's a one hour gap between 20 and 2 (sometimes). Had anyone done this before? I figure it's kind of silly to go around the world, but you have to have a 24 hour transit time in your own house. Thanks!

Hi globetrekker,

There's no problem with flying NAN-LAX-LHR direct, in fact all the NAN-LAX flights are timed to join up with NZ2 LAX-LHR, and you'll find many people on the flight will be doing exactly what you're doing (50 pax on my last flight were going on to London, that's a quarter of the aircraft!). The time on the ground is around 1.5 hours, just enough to get through immigration, collect your bags, go through customs, drop them at the transfer desk and go through security to the gate. NZ staff are on hand to guide you. If NZ20 is running slightly late they'll hold NZ2, but if it's more than an hour and a half or so (depending on the number of pax making the transfer) they'll put you up in a hotel. Enjoy Fiji!

Cheers, Zac
