You should be able to be checked right through. RCC Intl lounge in SFO is supposed to be very nice, booze is not free though. When are you travelling? I will be there March 23 on the same flight.

However you will get IIRC 2 drink chits upon entry to the club.
Won't you be in the Intl. F lounge taupo ?

Mad_Atta Do you have any advice for a girlfriend in distress???

Yes, but if their was a fellow FTer in the RCC lounge, I would gladly slum it with the riff raff in the RCC ;) ;)

How many drink chits do you get in the First Class Lounge.....4????
My brother and sister-in-law did a similar thing last month. They were flying UA JFK-SFO, connecting to MEL via AKL on NZ7. UA couldn't check them in all the way in JFK (bags yes, BPs no) and they thought they might be able to do it all when they arrive in SFO, and spend the rest of the day in SFO. Turns out, NZ checkin wasn't open, and wouldn't till a few hours before the flight, so they had to be at the airport again at regular checkin time.
good luck

Yes, it's a traumatic thought, isn't it. However, in the case of your excessive lifestyle, I'm thinking that perhaps a brief period of semi-detox might not be such a bad thing? :p
My own experiences of UA lounges (which does not include the SFO one, which is reputedly the best of the lot) has been less than impressive in pretty much all respects. Many of them mix both international and domestic pax, but I think the SFO one is dedicated solely to international so you'd think they could suck it up and have an open bar like other civilised airlines.
Perhaps a sneaky solution, should you find yourself with a few hours to kill, is to rock up to the RCC, have your two drinks and then go for a ramble around the airport for a bit (it gets my vote as the nicest in the USA, BTW, though there's not exactly much to see) and then head back to the lounge in the hopes of getting another 2... or are the prison matrons wise to that? Also, beware that the wine is likely to be almost undrinkable, so if I were you I'd stick to the hard stuff. Those bartenders do mix a pretty stiff G&T, so that will help make your precious chits go further!

Me thinks those Prison Matrons know every trick in the book.
I am flying in at 11.30am and might just jump onto BART and do some sightseeing around San Fran and head back to SFO around 5ish - might have a wee beverage in the Castro before heading back. I don't think check in will open before 5 anyway.
Cheers

You're probably right about the prison matrons, and leaping on BART into the Castro sounds like a much better plan. In which case, why on earth would you want to be back at SFO from about 5.00 when you have all of San Francisco at your disposal? You is trippin', girlfriend!
