Simple question-> Does HP give elites a "soft landing"? That is, do they drop you just one elite level per year, or can you go right from Platinum to nothing in one year?

Total miles flown last year was about 20k. I was granted Silver this year. Note that I have bought a ticket in Feb and I wonder if this contribute to my current status. FYI iCorpRoadie Mar 17, 05, 8:24 am Nope, no soft landing for me. Went from PLAT to SILV this year :( Oh well, I don't fly them enough anymore as DL is a major player in SLC. ~icorproadie Insiderdude Mar 18, 05, 1:01 am Nope, as far as I know your elite status is affected only by the flight activity of the previous year, no matter what your current status. If you're plat and in the current year have flown enough to make silver, then you are silver for next year. If you fly even less, then you can go from plat to zero. It's sort of a "what have you done lately" type of thing. Although, they are sometimes open to reconsideration if you write to the FlightFund folks. However, I'd assume if you did so and didn't have several itineraries booked for the future at the time you'd wrote you'd get a polite but firm no. Couldn't hurt to ask though, especially if there is a reason why you dropped from PLAT and can document reasons why your buisness on HP is soon to pick back up. |
