Did a quick overnighter to DC via BWI last Wed/Thu. First time I have flown into BWI. This was a marketing trip to land a new client. Flew on my WN Rapid Reward n/s from HOU. Stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn at BWI, also for free on a promotional certificate they sent me. Dollar car rental and meals were my only costs.

I found the BWI experience to be pleasant. The car rental complex is close by, and the hotel complex nearby is very convenient. I'm really liking these HGI hotels. Plus it's just a short drive down to DC on the Balt-Wash Parkway.

Landed the new client, so this will be a regular gig for me now. Nice to know I can invest my points and miles in generating new business, which then gets me more points and miles, which I can then use to generate more business, which then gets me more points and miles, which then...:D

I've found the same to be true in my (new) business! Best of all, now some of my clients are paying for my tickets, and I get to keep the miles and points for vacations...if I ever have the time to take one that is :)

:td: I had to make a last minute trip to Baltimore and booked at ES. I would rate it the worst Hilton property.
Room: old, worn, stained carpet, no handle on coffee pot, light above desk didn't function; no coffee or water in the room. Got in late so
in the morning I asked for a different room. Told it wasn't possible.
I indicated I would need an engineer to my room to repair the light as I needed to work at the desk. Also requested a coffee pot.
Suddenly the desk clerk said I could move to the room next door which I did.
I was never given the diamond amenities.
My room wasn't cleaned and when I approached a maid for another towel (only had one), she advised it wasn't her room.
Service in the restaurant was very slow (only one waiter/waitress each night). Food was lukewarm and unable to get the waiter's attention for additional drinks. (finally got the bill via the water boy).
It was raining and the ceiling leaks big time.
No folio under my door upon departure. Had to wait in a long line and when I mentioned that I didn't receive one, no apology. Poor service.
My advice: skip the Embassy.

It is against the rules to come to my neighborhood airport and not pm me to meet for drinks. Don't let it happen again. ;)

As a side note on hotels ... there are 2 very new properties at Arundel Mills Mall ... Homewood Suites and Residence Inn. Excellent location right off RT100 near the parkway. Also, very convenient to the new rental car facility. Just turn right when leaving and you'll pass right by them :)

Yes, I saw the new Homewood Suites and had actually tried to get a booking there during the quickie to BWI. Unfortuantely it was booked. In fact it seems that at least for that time period, almost everything was booked in the vic of BWI. Seems like business is fairly brisk in that area, according to what others have told me. Generally I find the Homewood Suites to have thick walls, which makes great for quiet.
