I guess imitation is the best form of flattery. The Ishuffle has been out less than 3 months and it is already being copied. I wonder if Apple will pursue a lawsuit against this manufacturer the same vigorous way they go after those that leak future product info?

Either way it is great for consumers ad hopefully flash DAP prices will come down even further and offer better feature sets.

I think it is pretty ridiculous that Apple markets the shuffle's complete lack of features as a feature. Regardless, dapreview.com has a bunch of pics and brief impressions of tons of new flash players, though all the best stuff seems to stay in korea.

I think it's a fantastic marketing idea. Take the suckiest thing about your product and insist it's a feature.

Silly that they made it look exactly like the shuffle, but one can hardly claim that the concept is a copy, if anything then it is Apple that copied others as flash players are anything but new...

I think phillips had a nearly identical product a long time ago that went nowhere. It was black though, and a bit thicker. Didn't have 'extreme' silhouette dancers in commercials and totally sweet/corny/asinine 'life is random' tagline though. That was it's downfall.

woohoo. So, does anyone know if we can actually buy these before they get squashed? The FM and built-in recorder are interesting add-ons to the magical mystical shuffle........

Some months after the original iMacs came out there were two copycats: one from Daewoo and one from eMachines. Apple did pursue legal action in both cases, and both companies pulled them. They were clear violations of trademark, trade dress and, I believe, infringed on some patents as well.

Interestingly, both products were pulled altogether. The companies did not attempt to continue selling the product in countries where it would be more difficult for Apple to prossecute. This surprised me, particularly in Daewoo's case, since their influence with the Korean government would likely have been more substantial than Apple's.

The media attention actually seemed to help raise the profile of eMachines, who, at the time, was just getting started.

If this flashback is any indication, LuxPro's future knocking off Apple products may end before it begins.

Apple will be counterattacking with their new product, the iSue, very quickly I bet. :)

Then I guess this Chinese firm will do what most of them do... hand them the iDon'tcareaboutyou....

Seriously, copyrights and patents don't seem to mean much to them :D

Didn't IBM pioneer that years ago? "That's not a bug. Document it and call it a feature" ;)
