Topic kind of says it all... Do AMEX corporate cards report to your personal credit?

Thanks!

According to creditboards.com (a great resource---I lurk over there from time to time) Amex corporate cards do NOT report to one's personal credit file, which makes them a good resource for "hiding" debt and inflating your FICO score if you feel the need to do so.

I can't speak to this firsthand as I don't have an Amex corporate card, but generally the info posted on creditboards.com is pretty accurate.

This has been discussed at length on other threads so I'll save you the trouble of sifting through the pages since the search function is down. The answer is, "it depends". Personally, I've called and asked them and have been told since it's a charge card (and not a credit card), they don't report UNLESS you are habitually late paying and/or default. Other people, for some reason or another (even who haven't been late/defaulted) get it reported on their credit report. Go figure... Hope this helps.

I have 4 seperate AmEx accounts (2 charge, 2 credit), and none of them (incl the personal starwood card) are on my credit report.

First hand: they DO report negative items. A family member had a corporate card (her business). When the business was closed and account cancelled, they automatically renewed the following year. Never sent any notice, bill anything. Naturally, it was not contested (or paid). Fast forward two years... can't refinance because there is an outstanding unpaid debt to Amex (on the corporate card). It was fixed with one call to Amex, and Amex did reverse the bad info to all the agencies.

So even personal CHARGE (not credit) cards do not report?

I currently have an AMEX blue and they report. I don't know about the charge cards, however.

Charge cards by policy don't report (only if you get way behind on your payments). Credit cards SHOULD.. I have no idea why they're not in my situation.

Well, I have never been late with my charge card and have always paid it off and it has reported since the day I opened it. THis is a personal charge card. Additionally, I applied for a different charge card for Amex and then found out I didn't qualify for it even though they approved my application and thus cancelled the card before activation but even though Amex told me they would not report it to the credit bureau it has shown up on all 3 of the credit bureaus. So the statement above is clearly not correct. I still have not figured out how to get the closed card removed from my credit report although I do plan to dispute it with the credit bureaus.

Sincerely,

JC

Probably been discussed many times, but... this whole idea of a corporate card is such hogwash marketing crapola. It is in YOUR name and YOU are responsibile, yet they like to call it a corporate card. And, from someone that managed an 800 person field sales force, it was always a problem because the idiot employees did not think they had to pay the bill until they got their expense money, which of course they had not gotten around to pay.

And though many have said they do not report these cards, there does appear to a consensus that BAD stuff does get reported, and it should.

What product are you talking about?

Looked at my Experian credit report recently. My personal Amex charge card does appear, my Business Delta Amex does not, neither does my Business Marriott Visa. Never had a late payment.

First, you should look at all 3 credit bureau reports. Your AMEX may not be one, but could show up on others. Don't be fooled and think there's a general policy that charge and/or credit cards are not reported. There could be many reasons why you don't see yours on a report, though.

I have a personal charge card and it's been on my credit report for over 10 years. When I do my yearly check of my credit, the outstanding balance on that AMEX account is usually whatever it was on the card the prior month, so they are reporting monthly in my case. I wasn't using S&T, either, so there was no revolving balance.

I worked for a company and had a corporate card that was in my name, and my responsibility to pay. It, too, was on my credit report.

Then I went to another company and got a corporate card with them (cancelled the prior one). Even though this card has my name and employer name on it, they get the bill and pay it. I never see the statements, but have to validate the charges through our expense system as they come in. As a result, I can(should) only use this card for business related expenses that the employer is picking up. This card is *NOT* on my credit report.

I'm not "fooled" -- I discussed this with an OSBN a few months ago. OSBN charge cards are not reported unless you are delinquent, in her own words.

And yes, I do check all 3 bureaus. :)

You are correct in that Amex business charge cards don't report; I don't even think Amex business credit cards report if I am to believe what people say about Blue for Business over on creditboards.com.

But PERSONAL charge cards most certainly report to all three credit bureaus monthly, even with a 100% positive history. My mother, father, and I all have Amex charge cards (separate accounts) and all three cards are reporting to the proper person's credit file. The highest statement balance is what shows in the "Credit Limit/High Credit" column, since of course Amex charge cards have no pre-set limit.
