How does US Airways know I qualify for Preferred Check-In and Boarding?

You provided a US DM# for your Visa and it should show up at US. When I last saw a manifest I was listed as US1/SG. It took me a few minutes and then I realized that SG was Signature Visa.

I've noticed recently that "SIGNATURE" also shows under the name on your boarding pass if you're not Preferred.
