Thinking about getting a corporate card. I started a new corp. and wanted to get the card without a personal guarantee.

I inquired about the Corporate Card and was asked to provide a plethora of various financial statements, including the past 2 years of tax filings. Since I hadn't been in business for that long, I was politely told to come back after a 2 year period. Have you tried getting a [Small] Business Card account? Those are pretty simple to obtain & work similar to a Corporate account which provides discounts, and employee spending reports.

I've heard Blue for Business is easy to get if you own a sole proprietorship; this requires a personal guarantee, however.

At the end of last year, I was able to get AMEX Business Platinum for two people in my new company (less than 3 months in business at time of application). AMEX did require the FEIN and an accountant contact info, who they contacted to verify that the company was for real. Not sure if it helped, but I already had a personal AMEX Platinum for several years.

AMEX Business Platinum is different from AMEX Corporate Platinum

The AMEX Business Platinum carries a $300/yr fee and is managed by OPEN Business Network. It looks almost identical to my personal Platinum, except that it says 'BUSINESS' and has the company name at the bottom. In terms of privileges, I get very similar (if not the same) as the personal Platinum (like access to lounges, 2-for-1 full-fare business/first class international tickets, etc).

What is the AMEX Corporate Platinum? How is it different from the Business Platinum?

Cheers, -sp

The only way I know of getting to the specifics of the Corporate Platinum is by filling out an application (you don't have to give your real name or anything). From what I can remember, all of the benefits are the same, and the card looks just like a normal Corporate Card, but of the Platinum color.

I suspect it has something to do with how easy AMEX can seize one's assets when an organization goes down the tubes.

If it's a partnership or a sole proprietorship, AMEX can seize the person's own personal assets. I suspect it's easier to get than a corporate card.

If it's a corporation, one's personal assets are safe, so AMEX is more careful.

99.9% of the people on this board will not be able to get a corporate card that does not contain a PG and 99.9% of the people on this board can get a corporate card. What is the diff you ask? PG PG PG PG

Geesh...to many posts with mis-information that seem to cause a lot of polution and confusion.

It seems most flyer talkers on not getting the point. Amex will be glad to issue a corporate card but it will contain a personal gurantee even though you have a corp. So yes you can have a legal corp and amex can still collect from you because you have allowed them to collect from you by signing the PG. Good luck if you are anything but a top Fortune 100 company on getting a corp card without a PG.

I am sure we're getting to that point in this thread.

Just hold your horses. ;)
