Air New Zealand Air Points - No business luggage allowance on upgraded flight?
A friend of mine is using points to UG to business next month to NRT. She received an email to say that as the UG was to be confirmed on the day (no status, points only), she would not be entitled to the business class luggage allowance even if her UG was confirmed at that time.
I have never heard this before. Is this usual?

Yes thats normal. If confirmed in advance then get baggage allowance for the confirmed class of travel. If standby (confirmed at check-in, lounge or gate) then get baggage allowance for the paid class of travel.

I thought it was paid class of travel allowance for both confirmed in advance and standby upgrades ? :confused:

3.2.3.1.10 We can't compensate you for a lack of airport lounge access, if your Upgrade request isn't confirmed until your arrival at the departure gate. Baggage allowances will remain subject to the applicable fare and Service Class rules for your original ticketed Service Class.
