Though I am primarily an AA flyer, I wanted to use my MR points on a trip to Argentina (EZE) soon.

I plan to purchase the ticket of course (coach) and do an upgrade to DL Biz Elite. I understand it's 25 DL points each way (which is fine) , I wanted to know if anyone has any advice doing this.

(Ironically AA flies non stop from NYC to EZE)

You need to call DL and make sure available upgrade seats exist. Also the ticket must be booked in M, B or Y class which are the top 3 coach fares. If the ticket and upgrades are available you can book the ticket with the upgrades confirmed then transfer the points from Amex to your Delta account.

Also you might want to check out the I fares. These are discounted biz fares that require a 7 day stay and I think a 50 day advance purchse. The fares to EZE are around $2200.
