I just checked on the hertz website that they have the FRDM rates until may something, and I decied to quote it, and if everyone recalls I am renting a car in Albany, NY, in mid april.

Well I started out with a rate of 260 with all taxes for the week for a F, with the AAA CDP, and the upgrade PC.

Then it went down to 237.70 with all taxes again aaa cdp and the upgrade PC.

Now I have a confirmed G class car for 223.22, with all the taxes included with the AAA cdp and the FRDM rate code. That is a great deal. :)
:)

The dates of travel on all these are: April 18th , picking up at 7 PM , returning on April 24th at 10 PM.

Making it even nicer is that in NY State you get free CDW/LDW ($100 deductible) and liability insurance claims covered by the rental company, not your own policy---both are state law. ^

New York State has a "vicarious liability" law that requires the rental agency to pay out liability claims (damage to other vehicles, property and bodily injury), so no additional liability insurance is required.

Here's some information on this law: State of New York vs. Enterprise Rent-A-Car (http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2000/may/may23b_attach.html)

As for the included CDW with a $100 deductible, I was wrong. Surprisingly (considering NY's consumer-friendly laws) New York has changed the CDW law (http://www.ins.state.ny.us/autorent.htm) to be more in line with other states regarding damage to the rental vehicle itself. You're responsible for all loss or damage to the vehicle, but rental cars are covered under your own vehicle's collision and comprehensive insurance, with most credit cards covering an amount up to your deductible. If you don't have collision/comp coverage on your car (or don't own a car at all) most credit cards will serve as primary coverage and pay out damage claims to the rental car up to $50,000.
