Sitting upfront today on flight 273, PHX-IAH I heard the man behind me ask the flight attendant "what's on the lunch menu" ^ The flight attendant promptly replied that there is no food for flights in F under three hours duration. The man was discombobulated--he couldn't understand just how this could be. I'm sittin' in front of him turning red b/c I'm about to burst out laughing, pinching myself so I don't :D

Me thinks he's been on either a AA, DL, UA, etc F flight where he of course would be served a proper meal in F, even on a PHX-IAH duration flight.

Something funny happened to me with regards to a meal. I usually take the MSP-PHX flight 759 on sunday nights, however it was booked pretty solid so I flew through LAS. I was automatically upped to 1st due to a Y purchase and it showed "meal service" on the reservation. So I take the flight up to LAS and have about 5 minutes to get to the other gate to board with the other F pax so while I was hungry I wanted to get on and get situated and figured I'd get food on the plane. We get up in the air and the FA does drinks and the snack mix then goes on to help others in the first few rows of coach. Didn't think much of it but about 30 minutes or so in, I asked when were we getting our meal. He looked at me like I was an idiot. Uh we don't have meals on this flight. The flight was scheduled for 3 hrs 28 minutes and left at 5:50p LAS time. So I was a bit miffed that it didn't have it but oh well. I get to MSP and call flight fund and they show the future flights as having meal service except for the next days. No meal service for the following day but meal service beyond that time. Well evidently this is one flight that fits the requirements but they don't serve a meal. It shows a meal served up until the flight is one day from becoming reality then they drop the meal service. How is that for odd? Sure enough I look it up online to see and it's not scheduled for meal service from LAS to MSP even though the flight is longer mileage than the trip from PHX.

Just thought I'd toss that out there that just because the flight fits the time limit and the time frame, doesn't mean you'll get a meal either :)
