Hertz - 8 seater for July in BOS

I need to rent a hauler (8 people) for July in BOS. From the vehicle guide for BOS, i see that they carry three vehicles that fit - QX45, Expedition and an Excursion.
1. Any advise on the Expedition vs Excursion?
2. Does the Expedition really hold 8 adults?
3. Does BOS carry Suburbans?
4. Any PC/CDP combos that will help with pricing?
Thanks

From my experience, the expedition can fit 7 comfortably. The excursion will give plentyyy of space for 8 people and luggage. THe QX56 should as well. However for the most space I'd recommend the Excursion especially if you have a lot of luggage as well. Second would be the QX56. The expedition would have basically no luggage space and would be very tight for the three people in the way back. Hope I could help.

That takes the Explorer off my list. Let me look at the Excursion and the QX45.

A QX45 won't hold eight. It's Infiniti's mid-size (think Explorer) SUV. It is essentially an upscale Nissan Murano.
The QX56 is their answer to the Suburban and is based on the Nissan Armada.
Excursion would definitely do it (it makes a Suburban look small), and the Expedition should be able to handle it (it's like a Tahoe).

If I needed to fit 8 people in one vehicle, I'd get a full-size passenger van, getting three people (unless they're all small children) in the third seat of any SUV is not comfortable for any of them.

Ditto. a 15 passenger van would be much more comfortable, and allow people to stretch out a bit if the trip is a long one.

SEA_Tigger : I meant the QX56. Not the 45.
Beckles : we will have 3 kids and 5 adults. So, we are hoping that the Excursion/QX56 is sufficient. I know that we fit in a Suburban.
Anyone know if BOS has Suburbans?

:D
Only the pickup/dropoff will be at BOS. Don't intend to do any driving within Boston. Most of our travels will be outside Boston, covering New England (Amherst, White Mountains, Peabody etc.).

BOS and surrounding area are sold out on Excursions/Envoy/Suburbans for July. I have a QX56 booked, but that seems to be about the same size as a Expedition.
Does anyone have any experience with the QX56 ? How well does it work for 8 people ? (4 adults, 4 kids). Would it be able to handle the associated bags - two strollers, four 20" duffels and a Child Carrier ?
Since July is still 3+ months out, what's the likelihood of additional Excursions/Suburbans being brought on to the lots? How do I catch that "refresh"? Just keep checking the Hertz site on a daily basis? Any possibility of getting on a "waiting list" or being notified by Hertz when they refresh?

I think that it should be fine holding 4 kids and 4 adults. However from my experience it's trunk cannot hold much. It is going to be a really really really tight fit with two strollers and associated luggage. Keep checking back. If nothing else comes available I think they may have a luggage rack on the roof? Hope I could help.

Call the station at BOS, and ask the station manager directly. It may be that "sold out" the whole month actually means they aren't stocking them - i.e. they've moved them somewhere there is greater demand and they can charge more (such as MVY or ACK)

You can always just hit Infiniti's website and see what they say on interior dimensions and seating. Then compare it to what Ford shows for the Excursion. :)

May not be fair to compare the Excursion and QX56. I compared the Expedition and QX56. Figures are from the Ford and Inifitinit websites. QX 56 spec didn't explicitly state vol behind 3rd row. So, i had to derive it.
On Expedition
Interior Volume 188.4 cu ft.
Cargo Volume behind 3rd row 20.7 cu ft.
On QX56
Interior Volume 188.4 cu ft.
Cargo volume behind 3rd row 20.9 cu ft (188.4-1st row vol-2nd row vol-3rd row vol).
On the Excursion, Cargo volume behind 3rd row is 48 cu ft.
The minutiae we get to on FT ! :)

Excursions are now available. But, they come with 100 free mi/day.
I have tried AAA, Costco, Marriot, SQ PPS, SQ KF, UA MP, eRewards CDPs. They did not yield unlimited free mi.
Any other CDPs/Coupons that could make this a bit more palatable?
