Does anyone use an Apple PB or iBook in conjunction with a Treo 650? I was wondering how compatible the two really are? I know that MS Outlook to Treo is a for sure synch, but what about Apple? I'm consider the purchase of the two of these products so any info would be great.

I just bught a Treo 650 and I have a Powerbook. It is possible to sync them through iSync (iCal and AdressBook will sync). Works fine, although I have not worked out all the kinks yet.

Check out The Missing Sync (http://www.markspace.com/missingsync_palmos.php) from MarkSpace. MarkSpace is generally considered the experts at Palm OS <-> Mac Sync software.

while i don't want to digress too much on this thread, i want to say that I bought a O2 XDA mini, which runs on PocketPC, and used Pocket Mac to sync up with my PowerBook.

The issue is that it works "most" of the time. There are still some issues syncing "notes" and other things and while the calendar may be fine if you are in one time zone, it really screws up when you travel to different time zones (as many FTers do). So that is my biggest issue.

I have considered selling my O2 XDA mini in hopes that there will be a better PDA for the mac that has the phone feature, but syncs with all my contact info on the PowerBook.

that's about it! thanks for reading my rant ;)

I've never found any time zone solution perfect, on any platform. I tend to make appointments in local time on my device and move the device time when I'm abroad. So, if I was in SFO next week, I'd put my 10:00am at 10:00am GMT, and put my p900 on US time when I arrived.

Simple, not elegant, but few glitches.

But the Treo automatically sets its time to that of the network the phone is on.

while, the changing of the time is set on the PDA (in my case the O2 XDA mini) it somehow manages to mess up in entourage and then resets it to the PDA.

So, for an appointment in hkg at local time 2pm tuesday, it will set it back to 2am monday new york time, then back to hkg time at 2pm monday. So, my appointments are time shifted. this is a real headache for "all day" events such as birthdays and anniversaries, where it can sometimes be shifted a few days before and a few days after. luckily, i can remember some of the birthdays by memory, but some i cannot (reason why i got a PDA in the first place!)

the other mess is the notes from the PDA to the entourage. most of them don't sync properly, so i have to worry about that.

so, if the palm solution works well for you on the Mac, please let me know and i'll be glad to change my PocketPC (PocketMAC). if not, i guess i'll just have to bear with it...though, i certainly wasted some money.

thanks again,
