I'm sure y'all are getting sick of my post.... sorry bout that.
So, i was given 900k points for my honeymoon. I've spent over 550k for 8 nights at the four seasons costa rica. I've got airfare covered. I'm looking for ways to use the remaining points on my honeymoon.
There has got to be a way to use these points towards ground transport, spa treatments, dining, golf, excursions, diving, etc.
Any ideas? I'm stumped.
The 'be my guest' program is limited to the U.S. The spa finder does not cover the FS costa rica. Obviously there isnt a smith and wolensky's in liberia. :) i'm running out of ideas....
i guess last case scenario is to get cash?

Sounds like you might have the makings of a mighty nice anniversary present!

I'd use 300K points for 2 * 6 days (150K for each 6 days) at a premium Hilton resort and extend my honeymoon. Use the remaining 100K points to fly with your spouse to those destinations. BTW, 550K for 8 nights is a rather steep rate, you could've gotten a suite at an Intercontinental for 8 nights for about half that rate, but I guess it's too late to change that now...

Yeh, thats the catch. I have 10 days for the wedding and i can *only* use the points towards the honeymoon. no aniversary trip unfortunately.
so, the idea is to use them all that week.
already got the nicest room they offer with the points. flying fc on dl.
come on, someone out there must have the perfect creative solution.

Can you redeem for gift certificates to purchase luggage for your honeymoon, gift cards to restaurants (any chains there?) or and other gift cards for clothes, etc? How about a dvd player for the plane ride? Rental car?
For hard cold cash, every $100 for 20,000 points. so 300k = 1500$.
Or get a digital Canon SLR for 210K for your honeymoon.
If I were you, I would rather go on a cruise than staying in hotel, because you still have to pay for the food and entertaiment at the hotel.
435k = Radisson Paul Gaugin to Tahiti.
two ticket First class Air france 240k mile ~400K MR (if you do the transfer from MR to Starwood before the end of March).
Remaining 65k to Intercontinental for a two nights pre or post cruise stay on Moorea in an overwater bungalows.

I just love the idea... but I guess our friend has already made bookings....

I don't know. Depending on the spouse-to-be, waking her (assuming spouse is female) up on about the 7th day, telling (asking?) her to pack her bags, and then zipping off to Europe (Paris or Salzburg for example) in FC (LH, AF, Virgin, etc.) for 2 nights in a premium hotel could make a significant impression. (But only if she is OK with spontaneous changes in plan.)

That's a real good idea actually.

Those are FOR SURE the best options. RSSC is a good cruise line.

Why pay for a rental car when you can let Amex do it for you?
Its your honeymoon, not tax deductable, so use the miles for a Hertz Jeep Rental.. Of course, this only covers another 50k pts or so... How about a Windjammer cruise while you are in that part of the world? Or 2 gas scooters @ 70k points ea, or spend pts @ Saks or Bloomies for Vacation wear or a great $1000 Prada bag for the new wife.... Call Amex, they will arrange a specific award for you too if you ask nicely....
