I want to book a trip with saa to cpt from London.
Does C already have flat seats?
If not, which flights do have them?
Thanks in advance.
What are the chances of operational upgrade to first on those flghts? I ahve status FTL Miles more.

I´m not 100% sure, but if you look into the seat plans on flysaa.com it say that all 744 have lie-flat-seats. Last march, when I flow CPT - LHR, they still had the Millenium-Class, but it was fine too.
SAA definitely have the lie-flat-seats on the routes from FRA to JNB and CPT. Both fligths are great. The lie-flat-seat is superb, best in market I would say.

All SA's 744s have now been converted to lie-flat beds in C. Last year I still caught an old configuration (and it was horrible!). A colleague had old style as recently as December last.
But now I see that all the old-style seat maps have been taken off the website and replaced with revised ones with the lie-flat configurations. That confirms what I read in the newspaper this week - that the refitting is complete. The lie-flat seats are great. (Though not as nice as those on the A340-600 IMO.)
As for upgrades: if you are paying full (J) fare I think there is a good chance. They do seem to be filling the F cabin on every flight with overflow from C. Not sure if they upgrade if C isn't full. My guess is that upgrades are decided on fare class first and FF status after that. I have never been upgraded when on a discount (Z) fare.
