Starwood Preferred Guest - Best Starwood Property in North America

I've got some free weekend nights to use up by March 31 and they run up to category 6 properties so I'm just wondering what people think is the best property in N. America where I can get the biggest 'bang for my buck'. People have told me the St. Regis in NY is hard to beat, but the Temenos Villas in Anguilla look very interesting...

Why not figure it out for yourself and report back? Or, if you are asking our opinion, put a ??? on the heading. I thought you were going to inform us of the best Starwood property in North America.
Here's another bright idea..........read the Starwood forum on FT.
Welcome to Flyertalk, joeboyib.
What kind of a weekend are you looking for? Nice beach to get away from a cold winter, skiing perhaps, or more of a big city getaway (shopping, take in a show)?
Personally I'd let my own travel preferences be the starting point.
Remember that Starwood's category ratings aren't based on assessments of quality (a la a AAA or Mobil rating) but rather on the previous year's avg daily room rates. So Category 6 may or may not represent the 'best' of what Starwood has to offer -- just the most expensive.
Btw, my understanding was that the Villas in Anguilla were not SPG-participating properties. If that's the case you wouldn't be able to use your free weekend night awards there.

Be nice. He's only posted twice on FlyerTalk. Rude responses like this will scare new people away.
Here's a civil response:
The only 2 Category 6 hotels in North America are the St. Regis New York and the St. Regis Club at the Essex House in New York.
Here are lists for all categories:
Category 6: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/starpoints/hotel_listings_cat6.html
Category 5: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/starpoints/hotel_listings_cat5.html
Category 4: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/starpoints/hotel_listings_cat4.html
Category 3: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/starpoints/hotel_listings_cat3.html
Catgeory 2: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/starpoints/hotel_listings_cat2.html
Category 1: http://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/starpoints/hotel_listings_cat1.html
If you're looking for the "most bang for your buck", then choosing a hotel by category makes sense because category rankings are based on the average room rate per night. However, there are some very nice hotels which are in lower classes. Do you have any locations in mind as to where you want to go or don't you care?

Just returned from a long weekend at this property using buy-10-take-2 or buy-5-take-1 from last year, can't remember which, and I was truly amazed. Service level was on par with the FS or RC Central Park. Upgraded to a deluxe room w/ seating area but not to a suite. I thought the butler would be superflouous early on but quickly found quite a few little things to ask for. One of the most gorgeous rooms I have ever seen worldwide. Perfect (and I use that word sparingly) bathroom; I must have had 3 showers each day. Cannot recommend highly enough, and will certainly be back next time as a revenue customer.

Here is the problem with suggesting the best hotel in NA, especially to a person that has no listed address. He mentions an urban hotel and one on a tropical island. They use Starwood enough to have a couple free weekends to burn. So the correct answer was posted by Tekelberry, guiding the OP to a list of hotels.
Best bang for the buck can be something different to everyone. Using free nights on a near sold out weekend in Las Vegas when the rates are sky high could be the best bang for your buck.

Hedoman, first off let me apologize for my ingorance on this topic-- it was not my intent to get on anyone's nerves. Secondly, I did not list an address because I a) do not currently pay rent anywhere and have been living out of different hotels for the last 6 months, and b) can fly anywhere in N.A. for free so it really doesn't matter where I'm from.
I left my question open ended as I'm really up for anything. I was just hoping to gain some insight and knowledge from people who have more experience in this than I.
The problem with your original question is that the range of properties is simply too great to provide an educated or useful response.
You need to provide at least some basic info, i.e. whether you want a city property or resort, if you like particular activities, etc.
The Aspen property is wonderful but not too useful if you don't like to ski and can't stand LA people.
The NYC properties are also wonderful but not too useful if you don't want an urban setting.
The W Westwood is also a great hotel but less useful than the Westin Rancho Mirage if you are looking to play golf/tennis.
IMO, "most bang for the buck" does not mean "the best most luxurious property". It means getting a room that would normally cost $500+ for free. Every property has peak and offpeak rates; but the per night cost does not always reflect the value to your personally.
If your question is "What is the best most luxurious room that I can get in NYC?" then it is quite different from "What is the best resort room?" because the NYC room may cost more but be vastly inferior in many ways.

No one mentioned the Phoenician, one of my personal favorites.

You might try the W San Diego. It's a great property and San Diego is a nice place to spend a weekend. I've also heard good things about the St. Regis Monarch Beach.

best property in north america? easy. st. regis NYC.
Temenos Villas. We were just there last week. However, they don't take Starpoints. It is pure heaven. Nothing like it anywhere.

If you want an island, St. John is stunning and the Westin on it is very nice. Its not going to be Temenos but that is why you can't use starpoints at Temenos.

St. Regis in LA was my personal favorite but it was sold and turned into an appartment complex.
Only thing better than going to Temenos would be going on a private jet.

I agree. Let's be nice to each other. I like the Atlantic in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. I also like the Starwoods in Florence, Italy. Happy Travels.

This was also the best Starwood I have ever set foot in. I miss it. From the moment I discovered it, I did not stay anywhere else in LA.

Well I definately would not dare to consider the Westin Regina Cancun... that should be near the bottom of the list for Starwood North America. :(
