I just booked 7 nights at the Four Seasons Costa Rica - premium room.
I have a question for you experts...
I upgraded to the nicest room that was available via AmEx - which is just their standard room with a good view. Is there anyway to use the points to get a suite? Can i use the points to book one of their packages? I would LOVE to be able to pay for this entire tria with MRs. Any ideas out there?

Seven nights at the brand new FS in Costa Rica ^ How many MRs did that cost ya?
Four Season's are difficult as they don't discount. If you where paying you could use amex platinium concierge to receive upgrade at check-in. If it's just two of you, the luxury should make up for the lack of room size.

Close to 500k MRs.
I've got an email into the hotel - i'll let you know what they say. I'm thinking that maybe i'll use more points to book a couple more nights and then just have the hotel keep the difference in return for a suite or some spa time or whatever. I'll let you know how it goes. I'm thinking/hoping the manager will work with me since this is our honeymoon.

According the the AMEX MR site, the Four Seasons Costa Rica can be had for either 50 or 70k per night depending on the season. I would think that this is pretty high but then again I have never stayed at the Costa Rica property. What would the resort have cost if you where to pay for it during your travel times? I was looking for prices b/t Oct. 4-10 for myself and the prices I got from the FS website where:
Standard - $319
Deluxe Pool - $349
Deluxe Ocean - $399
Jr. Suite - $439
Considering those prices, I think 70k per night was high but then again it sounds like you got the points from your parents or future inlaws.

Yes, correct. Not my points. So this is all free for me. :D
I just shot an email to the manager in costa rica - we'll see what he can do for me.
Does anyone know if you still have to pay all the taxes? I just ran my reservations and the taxes are still clost to $700!
