American Express Membership Rewards - Delta AmEx SkyMiles Card

I am wanting to sign up for this card to get the 15,000 bonus miles. Is there a penalty if I was to cancel before the fee free year was up? I don't want to pay an annual fee on a credit card.

My 12 months with my gold amex delta skymiles comes up in June. When is the latest I can cancel without incurring the annual fee? Ill have close to 50k miles by then. Should I consider a spg card for the next 12 months? Do they ever offer double or triple miles like the last 2 promos delta offered or is it just promos on starwood stays. I have a spg account now with about 4000 points.

Delta has had 2x promos every other month (one right now 15 Mar-15 April)
Plus the 10,000 bunus with $25K annual spend. Stay put!

I did a google search in this forum and a search on Delta but don't find the link to the Delta AMEX 15,000 bonus miles. Anyone have that link?

I signed up for the 15,000 mile offer on line and even printed out the offer.
When I got my card and welcome papers it says 10,000 miles will be given on first purchase. I called and talked with CS and they confirmed the 10,000 and was told to go ahead and activate the card but would only get 10k. Thay said they can do nothing about it. I am really frustrated at the indifference
to the attitude. What do I do? I have not activated yet.

Just call back and talk to another CSR.

This happened to myself and my husband and my brother. My husband & brother called and the CSRs in their cases said "they'd look into it and get back to them". My husband got a letter about a week later saying they would credit him w/ 15K total miles, and he did get it. My brother got a letter saying they would give him an additional 5K miles to make it 15K ---- but in fact they gave it to him twice so he got 20K miles total :) . I, on the other hand, got a CSR who said he'd fix it right away. But instead of 15K or even 10K, I only got 5K total!!! :confused: I have to call them back and complain some more :mad: .

Which card did you qualify for?

If you got the Gold card, it's 10k SkyMiles. If it's Plat, then you get the 10k SkyMiles and 5k MQMs (15k miles total). Spend $25k in a year and get an additional 10k MQMs to be credited 8-12 weeks after the anniversary of your renewal.

10k MQMs for spending $25k in a year.

Is this merely 10,000 bonus miles, or do they also give 10,000 MQM?

What's the difference between bonus miles and MQM's? Can they both be used to obtain frequent flier tickets? Are there certain limitations to the 10,000 miles given with $25,000 in spending?

Also, why do people always say that the Starwood card is better? With even the one promotion that Delta Amex is running now, I will have the 5,000 extra miles that people get with the Starwood card after depositing 20,000 points. Not only only that, double miles on everyday purchases coupled with constant double mile promotions and now 10,000 miles with 25,000 in spending per year...I don't get why Starwood is preferable. I do know that it is fee free.

Does anyone know if I will get double miles for using DELTA AMEX for DL tickets if purchased through Expedia. Or is it only through Delta directly?

No, there is no early cancellation fee. We cancelled my wife's account at the anniversary, then I re-applied as the primary so that I could get the 15k bonus.

Any Plat Biz card offers??

I got an offer from them for the Gold Biz (10K on first purchase, 10K on $5K spent by Dec., and 5K for adding two employees - no fee first year)

Are there any better offers out there? Any for Plat Biz?

About 6 weeks ago, I applied for the Gold AMEX Skymiles card just for the bonus 10,000 skymiles. I used it almost the same day I got it to activate the bonus. I checked my skymiles acct the other day and found only 2,500 bonus applied to my account. I called AMEX. The CSR said that some of the miles had posted and to give it time, that more miles would post. I said, that's about the silliest explanation I've heard. He said, well, it's the only one I've got.

Boy, do I feel silly. The CSR was right (see post just above). I got the promised 10,000 skymiles plus an additional 2,500 that I didn't know I would receive. The only thing I don't like about the Delta Skymiles AMEX, so far, is the $85 yrly fee. First year is free, so, I may cancel then.

Its renewal time again. Any good offers out there? Last time they knocked off $25 from the annual fee after asking. Is the platinum card really worth the extra fee? Does the free flight cert. have alot of restrictions/blackouts? Im concerned because Delta flights seem to be near capacity or cancelled nowadays.
