Hertz - Got a 2005MY G35
I got a 2005 model year G35 upgrade today in CLE from a "C" or Midsize rental, though they added a $3 per day sat radio charge. I didn't complain. :)
The car is about the same as before though the interior is much improved. The steering wheel tilts and telescopes now as well has backlit buttons. The buttons and knobs on the dash feel nicer. The volume and cabin temperature controls are now a rotary knob instead of pushbuttons.
I've avoided asking for the G35 in Cleveland since I crashed the last one. I hope it doesn't snow too much this week!

I had 2005 G35 in BDL a few weeks ago. It had just over 100 miles on it. The manager there said more were on the way and I also heard this statement in TPA the week prior. Hopefully this means the rumors of all G35s being returned is false.
Tummy- you neglected to add in your review that the horsepower is now up to 280 (from 260) for the 2005 year. ;)
I was told that all 2004 G35s are being returned, which is typical since Hertz keeps the cars for at most 1 year.
I haven't noticed a performance improvement with the additional 20hp and 10lb/ft of torque in normal driving.
One thing I find disappointing, which has carried over from the previous year, is that the G35 doesn't have the down shift rev matching that is on the G35 coupe auto and the new M series. Down shifts are very herky jerky still. If the G was as smooth as the BMW 3 series, I would have bought one already.

I'm happy they're still getting G35s- I was under the impression that they were gone for good, let alone being returned after their year of use with Hertz.
Yeah, I really didn't notice any large improvement with the extra horsepower, either. It still has nice midrange power, like for passing on highways.
One thing that got fixed that bothered me with the 2004 G35 was the glare on the windshield from the orange lights on the gauges. It was really bad when you drove at night, but the problem seems to have been corrected with that extension on the dash that covers the gauge cluster a little bit. My new complaint, though, is that that extension has a slightly different color than the rest of the dash and now the extension is leaving a little bit of glare. :(
