Air New Zealand Air Points - Did NZ ever fly to DFW?
I told a friend the other day that NZ did serve DFW airport for a while a few years back.
I don't remember the exact details, but something like AKL-DFW-LON stands out.
Is this possible or am I nuts?
If so, does anyone recall how long the service was and any other details?

Yes, there was at least an AKL-DFW service in the late 1980s. Can't recall exact details, though.
Dallas, Texas? Why on earth would they fly there
Could I arrange for NZ to fly to my home town? ;)

You are correct, NZ flew to DFW for a brief period in the 80's though don't recall the exact dates. The flight went via PPT but I don't remember whether or not it went on to LHR. Not sure why they chose DFW but suspect it must have been a hub for one of NZ's partner airlines at that time.

Who knows? Maybe it was a Tourism Board promotional thing. :p The inaugural AKL-DFW flight was on October 28, 1987.

There used to be a very detailed company history on one of the Air NZ corporate sites -- it included details about the launches and termination of some NZ routes, the arrival and retirement of various aircraft (including reg numbers) and the dates and details of accidents. It seems someone at NZ corporate decided to "clean up" NZ's history and removed much of the detail at some point in the past year. The version of the Air NZ history currently on the corporate site doesn't even list the Erebus crash now. It's been changed from an reasonable account of corporate history into a more of a PR piece.
Does anyone have a copy of the more detailed company history saved?

So true - I noticed that the other day when looking for the history document. It's gone from about 80 pages to about 8 and is now virtually useless except as an account of the last couple of years. I then had a bit of a look around my work PC and discovered that I *do* have a copy of the original version - I'm happy to email this to anyone who requires it, or even better, perhaps someone has a site where they would like to host it?
Have you tried putting the old URL into the Wayback Machine (http://www.archive.org/web/web.php)? I bet you'll find the entire site just as it existed prior to removal...
I found a 58 page .pdf file (http://web.archive.org/web/20031206180134/http://www.airnz.co.nz/resources/history_nov02.pdf) containing the company's history via the above link...
