American Express Membership Rewards - Delta American Express Card: Only get miles once?

About three years ago I got a Delta American Express card and received 12,500 miles for signing up. I cancelled the card shortly after that, but ever since then I keep getting more credit card offers from them with the same 12,500 mile deal. However, the fine print always says that this offer is only valid for first-time card holders. Are they strict about that? Has anyone managed to get the miles twice?

You only get it once. I tried also :)

But if you apply for the current 15,000 mile offer, they may give you the 2,500 mile difference. Its free for a year, so its worth a shot. Info on the Free Cards page of the Credit Card section of my website, Free Frequent Flyer Miles (http://www.freefrequentflyermiles.com/index.htm).

I think my double bonus was a fluke. When I downgraded from Gold to regular I got a 10,000 mile bonus. Go figure...

UPDATE: Just called to ask about getting another bonus and for upgrading my standard Delta card to Platinum, they offered me a 10,000 SkyMiles bonus + 2,500 mile bonus for adding an additional card member. Not bad for only $80/year ($135-$55 discount for having a qualifying charge card). Plus there's a 10,000 SkyMiles bonus for spending $25,000/year. How cool!
