It's 3 weeks away and I was just told by the #1Gold rep that no locations in Tampa have any cars in any class. What? Can this be true? I tried booking on the web site first and thought it was a glitch, but the phone rep said no cars. Every other rental co. has cars, so I'm wondering what's going on. Any ideas?

Many college/university students will be in Florida around this time for Spring Break.

Yes, I know. Someone suggested I ask over here, which I did but in the meantime the moderator moved the first thread to this board, so now there are 2. Sorry for the double-dipping.

Can President's Circle members (who can guarantee a car with at least 24 hours notice in sold-out situations) transfer a reservation over to someone else?
If this is possible, maybe a kind PC on this board can help out Marylou.

They have to be with you so you can add all the drivers to the contract. You can't just give a reservation to someone else. You must be there yourself to claim it.

I ran into a similar situation at MCO in the fall. That time, it was people working in FL on hurricane response efforts that sucked up all rental car supply - even stuff like Payless was sold-out at the airport. This time, I think it's just college students and baseball fans in Tampa on one of their max-peak weekends of the year.
My solution at MCO was a Budget location about 10 miles from the airport which still had cars at "normal" rates. $30/day for a weekend rental. I know you've gone that route for Hertz already, but maybe try some queries for the other agencies. You might find something better than paying $80/day for a compact from Payless.
