Hi there. I am looking for a good and free way to track my miles for various airlines & credit cards. Are there any such tools out there?

Thanks in advance.

The one that's been around the longest and hasn't gone through the ups and downs of change of product as others have is mileagemanager.com

one of the best features, other than it has bonus bulletin built in is the 'Alerts' that can help prevent problems with expiring miles, etc. The important thing to look at is tools that can actually help you manage your miles, not just record your balance..... heck, airlines already do that for you.

If search were working, you'd find threads recommending
MileTracker (http://www.usatoday.deskport.biz/).

This used to be a stand alone tool that had a shaky transition to deskport, but now works great again for many of us.

I use both the McPaper version of MileTracker and a Fidelity-branded version of Yodlee, under the name Full View. Plenty of financial institution use a branded version of Yodlee and you used to be able to do it free direct with the company - I don't know if that's still available.

MileTracker is nice and simple, tracking just mile and points, and stores a history. Yodlee also tracks all your financial accounts, mortgage, credit cards, etc., to give a nice full view of you position.

It sure is. They renamed it OnCenter, but it's still there, still free, and works great.

I like the alerts feature of mileagemanager, but I don't subscribe because I'm a slave to instant gratification - and mileagemanager only updates on its own schedule.

Hey, why is Randy "Suspended"?

I find delta.com does a perfectly acceptable job. I therefore assume someone would use one of these trackers only if they travel with many different companies and are looking for a consolidated report with alerts. But just to ensure I'm not missing out on something I should be using, is there any value in any of those tracker sites for someone who primarily just sticks with one airline and one hotel chain?

On your suggestion, I went ahead and downloaded it. It is basically the equivalent of having the history pages of each account cached locally except I assume it doesn't delete older history with age. I wish it had more planning tools and that it would load reservations and itineraries as well as historical info, but still it is useful for what it is. Thanks.

Hmmm. When I click on 'View' for a particular account, it gives me details such as elite miles YTD, elite segments, upgrade balance, last activity date, member since date, etc., plus a history of past mileage balances. I can even bring up a nice graph of my balance history.

Deskport has a lot of other stuff wrapped around the core mileage tracker (weather, maps, news, etc.). The USA Today version has just Travel News headlines and McPaper ads. I think the functionality of the mile tracker component is the same.

Howdy,

Just my two cents; I've been using Yodlee! (onCenter) for years now and I love it.

Let's me track everything related to my travel (and everything else). The alerts and email noticifcation are awesome.

Keep the faith,

Careful with MileTracker, it won't accept my five character password on United since it upgraded to a later version, so don't go nuts if it won't take something, check to see if the password is too short.

They are terrible at maintaining it though... Things break and remain broken for months. Customer service is non-existent. Then they "fix" programs by removing everything useful about them (e.g. Lufthansa was no longer refreshing and they "fixed" it to show status miles only, but not reward miles; when Auto-login stops working, they simply turn it off). They have the same programs entered under many different names to make it look like they have more than they really do; many programs are simply not there (SW, F9, etc).

I would glady use the paid service of MileageManager if they had some sort of family plan. I'm the primary mileage/points collector but my wife and 3 children also keep a few small balances which I track for the family. Because of how MileageManager is priced, this would cost me $75.00 per year ($15.00 X 5).

I can track all of them with one logon for free from MileTracker which comes as a stand-alone product for free from USA Today.
