The link did not work but I was able to register for it on AA.com. Where do I go to see the exchange rate - how many miles per pc point?
I also can't see it listed anywhere on AA.Com. Help :)
Thanks!

That's weird . . . I tested the link when I posted and it worked but it obviously doesn't now. The exchange rate is 10,000 points = 2500 AA miles (plus the 20% bonus).

An even better exchange rate that's available if you have lots of points (scroll down, they're called "travel awards" but if you read carefully they just post as miles) gives you 67200 points = 25000 AA miles (plus the 20% bonus), and about the same 2.7-to-1 (before 20% bonus) conversion rate at several higher point amounts too.
I can verify that they post as miles and that the 20% bonus does apply to them!

Good news. I started this transfer last Saturday and was hoping it would work this way. Have you had trouble also asking PC in advance how many actual miles you would receive? I am convinced now after a couple of emails and phone calls that they are not supposed to give out this info in advance.

I can verify this as well. They told me that it would take 4-6 weeks when I made the transfer, but it only toook 3-4 days.

Not to knock this but IMO transferring PC points to any airline regardless of bonuses is a waste. I don't know the specific #'s but when I can use 30k points for a hotel room that could cost upwards of 300$ or even more if utilized correctly, it really seems a waste to convert 30k points to less then even 10k miles which wont even get me a free US only airline ticket....

It's just a matter of preference to me. I'm not usually able to use the points on rooms in excess of of $300/night, but let's just use that as a benchmark. I redeemed 94,050 points for 42,000 AAdvantage miles for a 2.24 points/mile ratio. So under your scenario, that is worth $900 in room nights. The 42,000 miles can get me a trip to Hawaii, Europe, South America, etc. with a few between 2,000 and 7,000 miles left in the bank. Is this worth $900? In some cases yes, and in some cases, no. It's all in how you use them.

Transfer time from PC to AA took 7 days (Saturday to Saturday). The 20% bonus posted along side with the transferred miles. 94050 Priority Club points converted to 35000 AAdvantage miles and another 7000 bonus miles.
The posted date of the miles was March 05/2005 the day I initiated the transfer. That's the day that counts for posting any bonuses.

I don't even try to ask. I did the math myself. Once you use one example to work out the ratio (about 2.7 points to 1 mile, before this 20% bonus), and you have the PC-to-AA special awards chart and the AAdvantage awards chart side by side, it's easy to correlate it with the exact number of miles (dividing your points by 2.7 will get you close, but the exact radio varies a tiny bit from one award to another, so the chart makes it easier to confirm the rounding, but you can probably guess the rounding yourself).
In fact, please don't ask! I am convinced that the EXISTENCE of this transfer ratio DEPENDS on everyone officially pretending that it's not just a better award ratio. I would bet that it's there because AA wants PC to use those "awards" to promote how people can get free tickets, not how people can get more miles.
I further suspect that at one point in the far past it may not even have been miles, but some sort of paper certificate, but to lower costs they eliminated paper and the only way to do that (without setting up a costly new system) was to award miles "behind the scenes" and let AAdvantage award booking take care of turning it into an award.

i just used 60k pc points to book 2 nites at the IC Cannes at the end of the Cannes Film Festival - cost of the rooms are 350 to 1000 euros during the event
but i'd still maintain that the PC points are really only worth it for other than USA travel as there are usually better American alternatives than Holiday Inn

Just to push the logic a little further, let's assume you transfer your AA miles into Hilton Honors at a 1:2 ratio. Therefore your 42 000 AA would equal 84 000 Hilton Honors. It's pretty close to a 1:1 ratio between PC and HH...That could give one 2 nights at a Cat 6 hotel with HH...

Where are you getting that quote from? IC website has always shown no availability to me during the event (this year btwn. May 11th & 22nd) - my impression is/was that you can't get in for love or money, ie. people like John Travolta simply don't want us there with him, and thats the way it is - as is what the hotel is famous for.

I'm in
i held a temp reservations at the lowest cancellable rates for 5 months at the Cannes Holiday Inn -just in case
btw - when they run out of reward rooms, you can call the hotel manager directly and ask to convert your reservation to reward nites
i then built up my pc points to 60k
i then check the IC site every monday for availabilty
on last monday they showed both room for a price and rooms for points
so i reserved the room
i wonder if i'll get an upgrade with my ambassador status?

The 2.7 ratio works for all rewards except the one to Europe which is 207,000 and would give ~77,000 AA miles.
