Anyone know why the Impala is considered a YF (specialty fullsize)? I had one in SLC last week and didn't see what made it special compared to a Taurus.

FlyinHawaiian Mar 1, 05, 7:17 pm The Impalas I've received had leather interiors, sunroofs, and upgraded CD players, neither of which I see on the standard Tauri, so that's probably one reason. pinniped Mar 1, 05, 7:22 pm I've had one Impala. I'm not a GM fan and wouldn't buy an Impala myself, but this thing definitely had some horses under the hood. That might also contribute to its YF status. psychephylax Mar 1, 05, 7:31 pm Yes, it depends on the trim you receive base with no options is an F the leather/moonroof/spoiler/rims/cdplayer/more horses one is a YF Loran Mar 1, 05, 9:01 pm Hmmmm... The receipt clearly says "YF". The car clearly did not have leather, a sunroof, a jacked-up sound system, extra trim, etc. Hopefully I'll have better luck next time. SEA_Tigger Mar 2, 05, 10:36 am The Impala is my preferred full-size car and all of mine have had leather, sunroof, improved stereo (wish Hertz ordered them with XM sat radio like the Buck LeSabres have), spoiler and the fancy rims. I have seen "stripper" Impalas at Avis (I believe it is their answer to the Taurus) and while I believe both the Impala LS and Taurus have the same 200hp, the Impala does more with them. Now if only Hertz had 240hp supercharged Impala SS'... :) My parents own a 2004 and that is one sweet ride. ALARISstl Mar 2, 05, 11:12 am Hmmmm... The receipt clearly says "YF". Same with the LeSabre, I've had the Limited w/ sunroof, leather, stereo u.g., aluminum wheels, ect.. YF and I recently received a LeSabre that was stripped down-no leather, sunroof, ect... YF I thought I was driving a Taurus :td: RobotDoctor Mar 2, 05, 11:46 am Yes, it depends on the trim you receive base with no options is an F the leather/moonroof/spoiler/rims/cdplayer/more horses one is a YF All Impalas are considered YF, regardless of trim package. This is what my contracts indicate as well. The stripped version is, IMO, certainly not worthy of YF status. :td: pinniped Mar 2, 05, 11:49 am Have you guys actually ever paid extra for a YF? I think whenever I've gotten a souped-up version of any standard Hertz car, it's been when I've paid a regular rate for it. Heck, sometimes they'll give me a YF on a "Standard" or Midsize rate. Even when I've paid the F rate, I've never paid extra for YF. I guess to me, the trim package isn't that big of a deal. It's just a rental. psychephylax Mar 2, 05, 12:14 pm All Impalas are considered YF, regardless of trim package. This is what my contracts indicate as well. I went through my contracts and all of my Impalas were YF, but Taurus was YF, F and Y4 SEA_Tigger Mar 2, 05, 3:06 pm Every Impala I have ever received has been a YF with all the trimmings. I have yet to see a "stripper" Impala at a Hertz location, so I must be lucky. :) I have seen the "stripper" LeSabre. I believe it is classified as a Premium, but if I ever get one on that rate, you better believe I'll be at the counter. My LeSabre Limited at SEA was a YG (specialty premium) with leather, sunroof, heated seats, and XM sat radio. I have only received one YF Taurus (in BUF). It had leather and a sunroof. I believe it was still a Taurus SEL (if I get a Taurus, it is either an SES or SEL with no extras, and all classified as Fs). My new love (other then Prestige) is the Lincoln Town Car Ultimate (YI - Specialty Luxury). That is one fine ride. ^ Loran Mar 2, 05, 5:05 pm Have you guys actually ever paid extra for a YF? Thankfully, I didn't pay extra for the stripped Impala - I had a C reserved. And the car came with NeverLost, so all-in-all it was a good deal, even without the leather, etc. rgeer Mar 2, 05, 9:18 pm This is going to sound odd well at least i think, At MYR in August 2004, I had a gold reservation for a full size with a upgrade coupon, they assigned me a gold Impala LS, which I didnt pay anymore for, it was YF, it has the rims, spoiler, upgraded CD player, the trim, but oddly no sunroof or leather, that was odd because by the sounds of things their LS's have all of the goodies on it. It had Georgia plates on it so maybe it was a one way rental, and it had 29000 miles on it, and they when I returned the car their was a marron Impala LS sitting there loaded with leather sunroof etc. so was my car like one of Hertz's exceptions when they ordered it or something? Odd...... |
