American Express Membership Rewards - AmEx and Global Pass

Hey, everyone. I joined after reading an article about online travel forums. I'm having a bit of a dilemma and would greatly appreciate any wisdom and guidance y'all can offer. (I'm not yet familiar with many of the travel-related acronyms and such, so please provide assistance in dummy terms.)

Here's the situation:
My husband and I are planning to go to Scotland in September. My parents have 390,000 reward points that they're willing to let us use. We used their points to go to Ireland last year by transferring reward points into Delta SkyMiles (we wound up having to use 160,000 miles each for seats to magically become available). They told us today they don't have any business seats available--for any amount of points--for the dates we want to travel. I should note, we really aren't able to be flexible at all with dates. So I began doing a little research to find a solution. I read about Global Pass on the AmEx site; I registered on their site to see what it's all about and figure out if it might create a solution. I would really like to hear any comments y'all can share regarding Global Pass.

I wish I had discovered the forum a long time ago. From the posts I've read so far, many of you are extremely knowledgeable of the way all these programs work.

Here in the UK we can transfer points to British Airways, in turn you can use their points for Oneworld travel, I believe you need more points but it is flexible see :-

Have you looked to see if CO can get you there? Not to say they have a lot of BizFirst availability- but you might try them.
