Folks, I need your help. Everything is booked up that weekend. Apparently there is a large contractors convention in town...plus NCAA tourney time.
I just heard that some friends will be out there that weekend. I'd like to join...but the cheapest rate that I can find is at the Tropicana...for $459 per night.
Do rooms ever open up....last minute in LV? Or am I dreaming?

Any suggestions (non Motel 6/Travel lodge) would be appreciated.
Thanks !

Yep, there are 135,000 CON/AGG Convention visitors from 15-19 March.

I would seriously consider trying another weekend - the lines at the airport alone will be horrific, and even flights may be ahrd to come by.

However, if you really want to make it, I see the Hilton Las Vegas is offering rates of $129/night through travelocity. That's the cheapest 4 star on www.travelaxe.com and its a great location now the monorial is in action. Check rates on hilton.com which might be even cheaper...

The Imperial Palace 3* has rates from $70/night on lodging.com....

Also do some google searching to find the official convention website. Sometimes you can book hotel rooms directly through them. Often they never check to see if you are registered for the convention.

I too am stuck going there that weekend for a bachelor party and am furious about it. It is going to cost be a frigging fortune for hotels and the lines are going to be nightmarish. Now, I just realized that my flights into LAS on 3/18 are so full that an upgrade looks unlikley. I have no interest in ever going to LAS and this is just compounding my misery.

If this wasn't for a very close friend and if I wasn't in the wedding, I'd be bowing out.

Check the vacation packagers...
america west vacations, southwest vacations, mgmmiragevacations, etc.

Through mgmmirage you can get the Mirage for slightly less than the rate you have for the Tropicana. Still very expensive, but at least it's the Mirage.

There is also gogo, funjet, travelimpressions...the list goes on. Someone might have something :-)

I've had good luck on Travelaxe before, but even that might not work for this particular weekend in question.
