Saw a shiny new FX at IAD today when I picked up my car...The Gold counter person said they just got a few of them in. Very very nice...

I've been wanting to drive one of those for a while. I'm looking at purchasing one and normally try to rent something before I buy it (especially if someone else is footing the bill).
I'm in DFW and hopefully they might get a couple.
Thanks for the update.

yeah, I'm interested in getting one too so I would love a test drive :-D
Maybe I'll pick up the difference between my normal price and the FX....*sigh*

I've "picked up the difference" many times over the years. Hertz is kind enough to separate out the "upgrade charges" from the base charges, usually a mid-size car for me. I've rented the Jaguar X-Type, S-Type, Land Rover Discovery and other premium cars. Most of my clients don't care what I rent as long as they are only paying for the mid-size portion of the car.
The upgrades (at least out of DFW) usually aren't bad. I've gotten the Infiniti G35 Sedan for as little as $5/day extra. I got the S-Type for $20/day extra.
Trouble is getting the specific car that you want. The FX would be nice as long as there are enough of them that you or I could get to them. Prestige cars aren't usually too hard to get at especially for a weekend rental. Premium cars (like the G35) are a little more difficult to get at during the weekend.

Does anyone know if these are the new 2005 (grey colored lights) or 2004 (red lights) ? I have one rented in PHX at the edn of the month andw as curious if it is an '05 or '04. Thanks!
Hertz should be getting the 05 by now. All the 04 cars are being sent back or have been sent back for sale etc.

Enterprise (at least in Los Angeles) rents the FX35s for about $100/day.

Oh cruel fate, why do you mock me so much!
That white FX35 that I saw on Monday showed up at the client's site today! With the contract thing from Hertz on the dashboard.
Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

I rented an FX35 (silver/charcoal type color) from BWI. I got it for about $40 a day on a manual upgrade, and got them to apply the 20% Travel Planner's CDP and free day PC. $150 for 4 days total.

I was told that you can't reserve them, and if you do an upgrade (depending on your CDP) it's somewhere around 150$ a day for an upgrade charge...Sounds absurd to me but hey, the best car i got from Hertz so far was a Convertible Toyota Solara (YU class) in LAS on a one day Expedia Rental @ 27$ for the day.

My flight was delayed and when I showed up at the car rental place, the computers were down for an hour so he had to manually put in a change and at the end he said "since you've been patient I'll just make it a $25 upgrade charge".

Is it just me or does the FX look like a Ford Focus on steroids.
