Newsstand - IB places order for 79 Airbus'

MADRID (Reuters) - Spanish airline Iberia said on Friday it would order up to 79 Airbus planes, with a list price of more than $4.50 billion, in a setback for Boeing which fought hard for the deal.

Not really a surprise to me, they were leaning to Airbus anyway.

Airbus won the B6 contract with the same special leasing options. As long as IB is making big bucks when the balloon payments come due (same with B6), it's a hell of a deal.

If not...

Still, kudos to John Leahy for another win. With Boeing's large 737 wins lately, he must have wondered where some of his magic had gone. :)
