Hertz - Hertz Carrying New Car Models in 2005 - Got a Good One!

I was talking to my local edition manager about a month ago and he was very excited about all the new car models they will begin offering this year. I was pleasantly surprised when I rented the other day in NYC and got a Kia Amanti. The acceleration was great, responsive steering and very quiet ride. Some of the small details that I really liked were side view mirrors that automatically adjust down when you reverse (great for parallel parking!), dashboard lights up in tunnels and in dark, radio controls on the steering wheel, etc. The mileage was not amazing at 18.5 (according to the car's computer) but all in all, it was a welcome change from the Taurus as a full size option. I am curious, has anyone else received a new/interesting car yet this year?

Received an Amanti a few times in SFO and SJC last year. It was, at the time, a YF, but is now reported in a higher class.

I was given a Ford Freestyle SUV (Q4) last weekend at OAK with 250 miles on it, and nice upgrade from my midsize reservation. Nice - not as high or big as an Explorer, but still a nice view over traffic.

Was just browsing ORD for an upcoming rental and they have the new A6s for rental -- and they look STUNNING in person, ya'll.

With my AAA discount it was $83.36 a day -- which isn't bad because they want near a $100 for a X-Type, which is very inferior.

Can't wait to rent a A6....

I had a 2005 Ford Five Hundred with 112 miles on it in RDU last week. It was class YF.

The following weekend I had a 2005 Infiniti G35 in BDL. It appears as if rumors of the G35s disappearance from the Hertz fleet were only rumors afterall. I was optimistic that they'd be back after hearing from three separate stations (TPA, RDU, and BDL) that 2005 G35s were on the way. ^

Got a YG 2005 Buck LeSabre and while a little low on the headroom with the sunroof, can't complain about 30mpg over 700 miles and the XM sat radio was nice while out in Eastern Washington and Oregon.

Are the LeSabre's in the Hertz fleet the Limited Edition? Did your car have Leather?

Also, with my upgrade copuon on a weekly rental, which is a full size, and it says its for one car class above that would the LeSabre be in that catagory for the upgrade?

Thanks Ryan

Yes. They're classified as a Specialty Premium (YG) and have leather, eight-way power heated driver and passenger seats, dual automatic climate control, XM sat radio, CD, and sunroof.

Sweet, hopefully the pc will apply and they do the upgrade from the full to the Premium, and get the LeSabre. Does anyone think they will do that at ALB? Has anyone used the PC before and got a YG out of a F to G rental?

Thanks Ryan

Got a regular (not the limited edition) LeSabre from Hertz several weeks ago.
Frankly it gave me an impression of couch on wheels (this couch does get 30MPG as noted above).
I agree with OP on Amanti - it is definitely my favorite full size these days.

This weekend is pretty light at SFO and I got a brand new Subaru Outback as an unexpected upgrade from compact. Yey! Really tempted to head to Tahoe now :)
