South - south padre or galvestonView Full Version : south padre or galveston lastplace Feb 24, 05, 4:29 pm my wife and i along with 6 friends form college all in late 20's early 30's (none of us have kids yet) are looking to rent a beach house somewhere. is there any reason why one would be better than the other? emailkid Mar 1, 05, 4:07 pm Well, I live in Galveston, and must say that the water is nicer on South Padre. OTOH, it's a little cool for swimming this time of the year. We do have more restaurants and other attractions here on Galveston Island though: Galveston Island Web Site (http://www.galveston.com), including Moody Gardens (http://www.moodygardens.com) and the Pyramids including the Aquarium. Then again, you can take a day trip from South Padre across the border into Mexico, though the State Department has issued a warning to be careful along the US - Mexican border due to increased druglord wars. Hope this helps. EmailKid Sweet Willie Mar 1, 05, 6:23 pm beaches in TX are not good compared to other beaches in the US, So I would not choose either. BUT if it is between these two spots, South Padre would be the way to go. I love Galveston as it is so close to Houston where I used to get to quite a bit, but the beaches/water of South Padre are better. HEKK Aug 8, 05, 4:28 am Galveston The Strand, beach, Moody Gardens, Mardi Gras, Lone Star bike rally, historical homes tour, museums, great restaurants, and now Schlitterbahn... There just isn't that much to do on South Padre, besides the beach. |
