I generally only make pass/come bets with max odds, so I'm not that concerned if a table only pays 2x for a field 12 or has poor yo 11 odds. So my question is basically, who offers the largest max (free) odds? I think Bally's has 5x for 4/10, 4x for 5/9, and 3x for 6/8. Anything better than that?

Thanks

There are several on the strip and downtown that provide 100X odds :)
I think Casino Royale is one of them. Stratosphere (or is it Stardust?) has Crapless Craps.
Among a place that I'd want to play and get rated, I find Ballys and Paris to be the best with 3,4,5 X odds.

100X? Please tell me that the min bet is $1! jk. I'm actually staying at IP (this time tomorrow I will be in the air!), so I will have to check that out. I have a spot in my heart for Bally's, though, because I had a great run there on a previous trip.
As a side question, I've never gotten rated because I tend to move around a lot and play in different places. Can you show your Caesars card at Bally's and Paris to earn comps? Is it all the same comp account because they are all Park Place?

Yeah, I think at Casino Royale, which is by the IP, the minimums are $1 or $3. So you're all set ;)

Yes.

You should always get rated, even if you move around a lot. Then you'll always have a bunch of offers in the mail so you can get a good deal wherever you want.

You can use a card from caesars at bally's and paris and the flamingo. Park Place changed it's name to Caesars Entertainment a while back.

In my experience with these places, the automatic comps you get are pretty meager with table games... far more generous with slots. If you are playing serious coin be sure and talk to a host early.

Some casinos will consider your odds bets as part of your exposure for rating action, while some won't. In theory redemption rates are adjusted accordingly... but a place which doesn't count odds will generally work out better for a heavy buy/place/prop style of play while your style seems to really beg for a place that considers odds. Not sure which way the caesars properties play this one...

Yeah, but that single deck pays 6-5 on Blackjacks rather than 3-2, so stay away - it's a sucker's game.

Casino Royale is the only place I play craps. They always have 100x odds, and the minimum bet is from $1-3 in my experience. Although not as nice as the bigger strip properties I haven't found a place with better craps rules.

Casino Royal is where my BF plays as well. I actually like that the casino isn't very big. I'm not a big gambler so while he plays craps, I can be sitting right next to him at the Wheel of Madness $2 blackjack table.

just a follow up - i went to vegas this weekend and tried out some of your suggestions. Casino Royale was a disappointment. I enjoy a good dumpy casino as much as the next guy (O'Shea's is one of my favs), but this place was pretty bad. they did have 100x craps though, and the min bet was $2. to be fair, part of my negative review might be based on the poor luck i had there. Harrah's has 3x4x5x craps and usually had a $5 min table going. That was my first time inside Harrah's, and I was really impressed - It was a nice looking casino, and the poker room there was great.

This trip i stayed at imperial palace, and will never do that again. the room was dank and musty and the casino was very tired and cheesy, and the low ceilings made me a bit clostrophobic. I wasn't expecting Caesar's, but i was expecting something similar to the Flamingo (where I have happily stayed twice before) in terms of quality.

Sorry if my mini-trip report sounds a bit negative - we really had a great time (how can you not? it's Vegas!).

good report! I've heard the same issues with the IP. I liked the large craps tables at imperial palace, as it seemed casino royale's tables were shorter. My first night in Vegas last October, I turned $80 into $500 playing craps at the casino royale. The guy next to me cashed out around $10,000. However, my luck turned horribly sour at Harrahs and the Rio (where I was staying for business), so of course, that $500 was given back over the course of a week. :o

You can get greater than 3/4/5 odds a few places, notably Sam's Town (20X). The most important things to me about a particular casino is the mix of players, and whether I am lucky there. My favorite casinos for playing craps are as follows:

1. Palms (cool tables)
2. Mirage (negative ions)
3. Rio (caution: bad field/prop odds)
4. Caesars Palace (the cathedral of Craps)
5. MGM Grand
6. Venetian

Honorable mentions: Stardust, Tropicana, TI, Hard Rock

There is no such thing as good field/prop odds.

For field, the house advantage changes depending on whether 12 pays double or triple. For double it's in the 5.5% range, for triple it's in the 2.75% range.

Some houses play with the prop bet payoffs as well, changing Any 7 from 4:1 to 5:1 or the 2/12 one roll from 31:1 to 30:1, and the hardways from 10/8:1 to 9/7:1.

Still all of these are high house odds compared to your standard (don't) pass with odds, so it may ultimately be irrelevant. :)

FWIW, I just returned from Vegas...LV Hilton has 10X odds. Still a pretty decent property with lots of craps tables running at any given time.

There is no such thing as "good" field/prop odds.

In England the odds are significantly better on "centre bets" than in any US casino. Someone help me out here. I should add that I don't make these bets, so the field/prop odds makes little difference to me in evaluating a casino as regards its craps tables. Also, pass/come line odds greater than about 5x (Atlantic City standard) are not all that useful, at least to me. 3x/4x/5x (Vegas Strip standard) is fine.

No casino pays 5 to 1 (6 for 1) on Any 7 because they would have no advantage. Few casinos shave the hardway odds below 9 to 1/7 to 1. The usual difference in US casinos is between double or triple field payoff on 12s; and in 2/3/11/12 propositions (14 vs. 15 to 1/29 vs. 30 to 1).

I know that the OP was asking about odds vs payouts but here's another angle.

The Hard Rock Hotel has most of their staff (and patrons for that matter) dressed in exceedingly risque attire, it can very appealing to watch the craps shooters as they throw the bones down the table and the boxmen (err... boxWOmen) as they oversee the table. :D
FUN INDEED!

thanks for the additional "angle." I've been to vegas 5 times and never been to the Hard Rock. I will have to put it on my list for next time.

The eyecandy is fine.
But playing craps here with those good-awful purple tables and chips whose coloration make them hard to differeniate their denominations, can be a bit challenging.
Add to that a bunch of novice players (trying to show off the their friends/girl-friends) who throw the dice into the chips or stick their hands on board after the dice has left the rollers hand and you might reconsider whether you want to play here.

That said for some reason I always seem to do well here during a brief stop on the way to the airport.
