I have an upcoming ski trip, renting in Denver. I wanted to see if anyone had any experience similar to what I face.
The rate jump between a compact and an intermediate is huge. Given the days that I am renting, the best deal is a compact using the Carlson rate combined with a 2 car class upgrade coupon from Entertainment. This takes me from compact to standard, but requires me to use the counter.
However, the last time I was in Denver, the Aisle was filled with minivans. Getting a minivan would save me the trouble and expense of a ski rack. So what I'd like to do is keep my reservation for a compact, upgraded to a standard, with a ski rack. When I get to the lot, I can look over the Aisle. If there's a minivan on the Aisle, I'd tell the guy at the counter that I'd like to take that and avoid the ski rack charge. Any chance of them letting me do that? After all, in some ways, its a voluntary downgrade from standard to intermediate? Am I better off using the one car class upgrade coupon from compact to intermediate? Has anyone ever tried anything like this before? Anyone have any other ideas?
