The American Express Private Bank is much like other Private Banks, basically for customers with US$1,000,000 of investable liquid. Similar to Lloyds Mayfair et al I would presume.

Mayfair is a level of Lloyds TSB for clients who have at least £1,000,000 in investable assets or a salary in excess of £250,000 per annum.

I looked at the stats for their "US Moderate fixed income" porfolio (http://www10.americanexpress.com/privatebank/pdf/SigUSModerateFixed.pdf) and it didnt seem too good. It's been growing as of late negatively. And overall for the past few years, been performing below inflation. Also, it's below the benchmark that they use for measuring themselves. I feel there are better ways to invest your money than to give $500k to them like this (yes, for some reason it says minimum investment of 500k on this pdf but on the website it gives $1M).

The $500K is the minimum to invest in that particular fund, but I believe the minimum required to be a client of the Private Bank is $ 1 M.

I read about the "Presidents Circle" in the Amex Private Bank Annual Report. You can download the report in the investor's section of the Amex website,
