Any thoughts on these after market Sirius Radios that Hertz has added to some cars? The last few rentals I have made at MKE have come with a Sirius control panel that say "Hertz" and "Audiovox". The keypad has a flimsy plastic cover that rattles at speeds above 25mph. The keypad also sticks out from the dash and intrudes into the passengers knee space.

What were they thinking? I like the option of the radio, but this is tacky at best, and dangerous for the passenger.

*shrug*

Audivox provides the controllers, and that is what they choose.

Cars with built-in Sirius (like the Infiniti G35) or XM (like the Buick LeSabre) don't need the control panel as you can tune the stations via the car radio, but for the cars that don't have it installed by default, they need some way to control the unit.

We had one of those in a Ford Explorer last year. Ours didn't rattle and it didn't get in our way either. But the latter probably depends on the size of the car and/or the passengers. ;)

I don't know if there are better aftermarket options out there, but I sure enjoyed the huge choice of channels. I took along some of my CDs on that trip, but I didn't touch them during that rental. :D
