I was booking a Ford Focus at BOS just now and noticed that they are listing specific cars. The list included the Ford Thunderbird, Audi A6 Quattro (116.97$ with a AAA CDP).
Anyone else see Audi's at Hertz Locations in the US?
Oh, Any PCs to beat that 116.9 down further ? :D

You can select an A6 at LAX when you book online, but whatever CDP/PC I try, I always get "Car not available".
Anyway, its good to see German cars available for rent in the USA finally. How about the A8 for the Prestige Collection? This is my favorite car to rent here in Germany.

Hertz.com showed A8's available in PHX. It is really nice to see some non USA companies such as Audi's Hummers, and Infiniti's. :)

Is there anything more American than a gas-guzzling, godzilla-sized, Hummer H2?!?

Sorry to hijack your post but can anyone tell me what model year those A6's are? 2005 (new one) or 2004's (previous generation)? And how do they come equiped? FLL has them for $75.75 (with AAA CDP).

I've seen a few of them in LAX and PHX before and they were the old ones then. This was last August and October. The A8's are probably the new ones. They (hoepfully) will start or ahve already come out with the 05's of the A6's.

I spotted a 2005 A6 at TPA's pickup lot a few weeks ago.

Just reserved one at ORD for March 1. Same price as a Volvo S80; not a bad deal.

Hm... I guess I'll have to wait 2 more weeks until I know what A6 I'll be getting. Hopefully it's an 05.

Yes there is:
Chevy Suburban
GMC Suburban
Chevy Tahoe
GMC Denali
Cadillac Escalade. ESV and EXT
Yukon
Ford Excursion
Ford Expedition
All of which get about the sameMPG as a H2

Saw a 2005 A6 3.2Q at SJC in the Presidents Circle Stall on Friday.
I was ready to go in and ask for an upgrade when I found a V8 Tbird in my spot. I did not bother with the Audi :-)

You were taking me too literally ;)
I think the Hummer is as much a symbol as anything ... kind of like is Cherry Pie really less American than Applie Pie. ;)

Saw a bunch being rolled out from the back at LAS last month when the CES Convention drained them dry of cars. One CSR even commented how nice it was to have the new Audis.

It's not all about the gas guzzling - here's an idea of what the larger SUVs leave behind:
http://www.epa.gov/greenvehicles/suv-05.htm#lgst
So the Ford Expedition is noticeably better on their pollution scale than the (zero-scoring) Hummer.

The Hummer is so heavy that it's not even required by law to publish fuel economy estimates.
Owners (not me!) say that they generally average around 9 to 10 miles per gallon. :td:

You can get an A6 in San Diego.

If you select the destination, this link will show you what types of cars they have there:

I noticed that places with the Audi A6 shows it all the way at the bottom of the list.

go to an audi dealer, budget or some other co will have a6's for rent as the use them for loaners for a8 customers. They charge around $45 day to rent.

Around town I get 12-13 mpg. On a trip 14-15. Towing a 8000lb trailer 5-6.
Beauty is - to all the tree huggers chagrin is that up until recently this vehicle (along with many other SUV's) was 100% deductable as a business expense!
I just returned from San Diego, where I had reserved a full-size. They were out at the time and comped me to an A6 Quattro with Neverlost. What a sweet ride! And for $22.95/day (weekend rate). They even waived the Neverlost fee because I had not requested it...but told me I was free to use it during my rental.
I was just looking around today trying to figure out what they normally go for and how sweet a deal I got, when I stumbled on this site.

Can you say "Sweet" deal?!!!!! lol Most excellent. I just booked an A6 at LAX for a weekend 3/11-13 .. am here on business, so will trade in the company-rented Mazda or Chevy Impala, whichever lands in my spot, for the weekend and go for a spin in the Audi! Then return Sunday night to my "ordinary" rental! lol

I was looking at the site just now and BOS seems to carry these as well. The FX35 goes for 89.99 and the QX56 at 116.09

Very interesting. I was thinking of getting a FX. Might have to make a trip to Boston to try it out, though the taxes and fees there suck.
I hope they get the M35/45 also.

Wow! The A6 Quatro (3.2) is an awesome car. Much much much better than any Jaguar (I don't consider the X-Type a Jaguar) and G35. Oh and it is extremely roomy!

In defense of the G35, one of my current favorites, the A6 costs about $10k+ / 30% more and is much bigger. I haven't been able to drive the A6 yet though.

Saw a brand new A6 at DCA this week.
Just reserved one at ORD for March 1. Same price as a Volvo S80; not a bad deal.
Well, how was it?
And how many did they have available? And did you see an FX by chance?
I have a res for next Friday, hopin' they have that or the FX available. That'd be sweet.

Wow! Just came back from Key West (200 mile drive). The new A6 is amazing! Very fuel efficient, has more than enough power, and is quiet. I don't know why anyone would want to rent ANY Jaguar or Infinity over the A6. Not only that, it gets a lot of looks (positive). It has tons of room in the back, even when the front seats are somewhat reclined. The car does come loaded, with MMI, Bose premium sound system, heated seats (front + rear), turning headlights (xenon). It has so many nifty features to list.
How much did it run you BIG MAC?
And thanks for the review. ^

Had an A6 for the weekend out of LAX. Was very reluctant to give it back!! :p
Loved the car. Drove 400 miles .. taking in Santa Barbara one day and down to Dana Point the other. Car drives beautifully. If you select 'sport' mode, it really takes off. Great midrange acceleration too. Averaged 18-19 mph at an average of about 75-80mph ;) . My only gripe is that Audi have followed BMW with a wretchedly overly-complicated audio, navigation and heating/AC console. It is all controlled by a large dial/knob in the center of the console in front of the gear shift. Changing radio stations can't be done on the steering wheel (well not that I could figure out anyway!) .. you have to have "radio tuning" selected on the display and then use the large dial/knob to carefully click through the stations. Not the best safety option when rattling down the 405 or 101 at 80mph! That said, the car looks great and as I said, drives beautifully. Mine came with a 3.2l engine. Would love to try the 4.2 or the RS6 when it comes out!!!!

It is $454.49 USD a week with the AAA discount (10%).

Just scroll the left wheel on the steering wheel, it should scroll through the list of stations on the driver's display (between speedo/tach)
