Hertz - Discounts for Hertz in Germany?

I'm going to need to rent a larger vehicle in Germany in late August for 2 weeks. The rates I'm getting on the Hertz website (with AAA CDP) is for almost 800 euros for a full-sized wagon and 1260 euros for a 'premium' van. Since we'll be 3 adults and 2 kids in car seats plus bags, I'd prefer the van....but 1260 euros ($1600 at today's exchange rates) seems awfully high (so does $1040 for the wagon). Is this typical for rental rates in Germany? Any other discount ideas or PC codes that anyone knows of?
BTW, the location I chose was Braunschweig, and not at the Hauptbahnhof, as I assume this is cheaper.
Thanks in advance!

I've been looking for Hertz CDP's in Germany, too, but without much success.
If you're not tied to Hertz, I would check others: Sixt (www.e-sixt.de) has a van for EUR 947 for two weeks; not exactly cheap, but still considerably less than Hertz.

mangoMan & Zaphod:
I have a Hertz Upgrade in Europe coupon good through June 2005. The PC# is 173563 and the CDP# is 205521.
If one of you can use it, I'll be happy to send it out to you.

Thanks, but my trip isn't until late August. Appreciate the gesture, though.

Hertz is running a campaign till April 30 on CDP 653000 for weekends. see my post in the 'a few good coupon codes' thread for other European/German offers.
Also good codes are 824400 for SAS plain blue FFP members, 635085/87 for LH normal/elite members without insurance. IND/INW rate quote is for daily/weekly rentals without insurance cover. WOW and EOW rate quote is for weekly leisure rentals.
I have seen pretty good rates off hertz.be with ryanair's CDP's also.
